Before I went to collect my Z4 I rang to change my insurance from the Z3 and they asked if it was a standard or SE model. Well I said I don't know at the moment but as soon as I get the V5 I'll confirm. Well the V5 just states 3.0i Auto so does this mean it is not an SE? In fact I'm not even sure what the difference between the two is. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Cheers,
Dean.

The car has the auto transmission which you can also operate in steptronic mode. It also has the sport button. I guess it's not an SE model as these letters do not appear on the V5. What I can't work out is whether SE was a higher or lower spec car. :-\

I think all pre-facelift Z4's were SE versions, then became either Sport or Si versions after 2006.(excluding the M)
I don't recall there being a Sport version of the earlier models, or even a standard version.
I had the sport button on my 2.5 SE 2004 car and it also had Msport seats, but was still an SE. and some SE's had Msport suspension. :-?

Mine is listed as Z4 3.0i SE Auto on the V5.

I think I read somewhere that the 3.0i SE was at somestage renamed just 3.0i. I'll try and dig the info out...

Edit: Found this :- The 3.0 and the 3.0SE is the same car, basically the launch cars were called 3.0 and then BMW renamed the specification to SE, but never made any changes, although for stuff like car insurance, the two models are distinct and you should try and get it right.

Mine has 18" split rims. It is a July 2003 model so one of the early ones. Am I right in thinking that if it was an SE then it would say so on the V5? Did they all have the sport button or was it an option? I just want to make sure I'm giving the right info. to the insurance company. Looks like it may have had a few options added, I can see cruise control, parking sensors, TV, Sat Nav, CD multichanger, folding door mirrors, auto dimming mirrors, auto headlights and wipers, aircon, memory leather seats. Some or most of these may be standard for all I know though!

The TV works really well - shame they are closing analogue transmission soon!

If you want to know what came with your car as extras run through the procedure in this thread and it should tell you!

How to find the options specified with your Z Roadster
Thanks - when I do this the vehicle information states 'Z4 E85 Roadster 3.0i (EUR)' The letters 'SE' do not appear anywhere at all so I looks like I have NOT bought an SE model!

I'll update the insurance company next week (no doubt they'll give me a partial refund - ha ha)

The options list matches up with what I see on the car except I didn't realise it had M Sports suspension (though from what I've read elsewhere this isn't really perceived as a positive due to the harder ride it gives).

It lists the automatic soft-top as an option too - I thought this was standard on Z4s? I've never seen one without an electric roof?

I think the auto soft top is the one that opens and closes from the key fob. Gazza will be along to confirm that as he has it on his and spends hours each day watching it open and close by itself, can't blame him though :)

Oi board, I don't spend all day watching it ;;)

As far as I am aware all Z4's have electric roofs, or at least I havent seen one without.

Mine has the Gaptech system on that allows you to raise/lower it with three clicks. The standard system on the car means you have to hold the button for the duration of the opening/closing.
