A stud for locating the wheel onto the disc whilst you footer about trying to get hold of the wheel nut you had in your hand only seconds earlier........

Looks like a threaded bar with some heat shrink on! As for what it's used for, I haven't a clue.

Tool for helping align wheels. Push it on to the wheel as far as the heat shrink, offer the wheel to one of the threads and screw in a little. Then go find the studs that have rolled away or where you put them safe ;)

Edit - Looks like Steve got there before me :(

So as most you said, this is why I made this.

First use this afternoon and with my car having hub centric spacers I wonder why I haven't made one before. Really makes fitting wheels a fiddle.:thumbsup:

I always have one bolt to hand already mounted in the socket and after running 2 bolts up you can screw out the long stud with you fingers. I run the not a up with the gun on no.1 setting and then torque them down to 130 NM.

Oh, do I get a prize....... on a serious note, the Z3 had one of these in the tool kit as standard, unsure about the Z4
