Hi, got 8.5 ACS's on the rear with 20mm spacers. The standard BMW locking bolt thread is approx 25mm and that is the only length thread they do. I need a pair of 45mm thread locking bolts, can anyone recommend a manufacturer for that length thread? (M12 1.5)
Thanks KF

Hello Pete! Long time no hear! When I bought my 20mm spacers they came with the correct length bolts. I'll have a look tomorrow and see if I can find where I got them from, I'm sure they'd sell you a set of bolts.

Hi Pete, I don't know of anywhere locally (apart from breakers?) but I got my spacers from these guys,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10pc-Spline-Lug-Bolts-Extended-40mm-shank-/261994883322

My 20mm spacers came with 50mm bolts

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Alloy...-Long-Bolts-/151415241266?hash=item23410d3a32

This company is in Rochford, they may be able to sell you some bolts separately

Hi Dave and Tony good to hear from you again and ta for your replies:thumbsup:. I've got the 20mm spacer on the back and the longer bolts, but none of the longer bolts are locking ones, I'd therefore like one for each rear wheel. Will give that company a ring Tony. Hope you guys are well and see you around. Cheers Pete.

Try looking up McGard wheel locking products, usually available on eBay - http://www.mcgard.com/index.php/automotive-2/wheel-locks

When I ran 20mm spacers I bought a set of these, but obviously can only use them on the rears. Sold as a set of 4 so you can either put 2 in each wheel or store them somewhere.

Strange that people who sell spacers including staggered set up don't offer a set of security bolts. You would think that there would be a market for them?

Tony.

ps. If you bought a set of 4 you could cut 2 down for the front wheels even.

Which is safer, 20mm hub centric spacers using extended bolts, or 20mm hub centric wheel adapters using existing bolts?

Thanks Tony will definately check that company out and thanks for the offer. Gaz, McGard locks seem to come up on a regular basis, so I'll take a look at them. Just annoying because like you I only need two for the rears, but yeah I agree bung two on each wheel, or as I have been told a couple of times now, use all four but get the front boys cut down. Keeps everything standard which suites me! David's question above is something I too thought about....interesting?
Finally, Hello Jim, hope your good.......I assume all those boxes arrived a couple of years ago...must see your car? Pete

Mine is on 20mm hub centrics with extended bolts. I touque them regularly just to be sure but to be fair they have never moved at all.

@DavidM I would have to believe that the extended bolts would be safer as they'll give 20mm more length of thread contact whereas the regulars would be 20mm too short and would quickly fall out if they weren't torqued down regularly! JIM

@koolflyer I'm sure I sent you a message that they did eventually arrive and as they are to go in my 58 merc 190sl will be one of the last things going in. Here's a shot of the zed taken by our hydro dam.image.jpg

I seem to remember that you did Jim, anyway glad you got 'em! Car looks good and like the black grills. Wendy and I were wondering if your scenery looks like that now as we started to watch the new series of Ice Road truckers last night? Hairy old job!

I just need your black wheels Pete to go with the grills. Had to replace them after some arse backed into the car while I was in the bank for 5 min just 7 days after the car finally arrived here so decided to go for the blackout look! JIM
