Agreed, end result looked good though. I think he's at least the second guy to buy his own car back. Expensive service :wideyed:

It does seem crazy but remember wheeler dealers do not account for labour! If he had had the work carried out independantly it would have cost somewhere in the region of the 4K he paid to get it back.

I've always like these cars and love that colour.

Forget the cosmetics on the car, the engine problem only cost £30 and for the guy he would not have to pay as it was his engine builders fault...

This seemed to be his problem, unable to get to the bottom of the issue, I wonder how much head scratching goes on in the background on the show trying to diagnose these issues? £30 is a cheap fix but only if you know how!

Not a lot actually @Brian H, Depending what car they do they always call in a team of experts. Edd is a very good mechanic but we only see Edd lets face it he's paid enough to be the front man.

I maybe did not express myself very well, it is easy to say that the engine problem only cost £30 to fix but that is if you are in the know, you would have hoped the engine builder would have put this right but I guess there is a reason why he did not. This is similar to the boxter they bought which needed a gearbox oil change, easy when you know how!

Two more, the Red Porsche 914 and the Silver Mazda RX7 (Sorry bit of an anorak moment)
Nice one Paul. I remembered the 914 from the barn but couldn't put my finger on third. Thanks

the RX7 was terrible.
it started as a nice car, got the ''Barry-boys' treatment and then the original owner bought it back.
i can't see the Wheeler Dealers team actually wanting to do that to a 'quite rare' car so it seems to me that they were doing it specifically for the original owner.
it does make me wonder how much of the show is 'real' if you get what i mean?
of course it could just be me with a suspicious mind?

Whether it a put on or not, it gets Guy's like us talking about cars so it can't be all bad. At the end of the day it's a TV show so there's bound to be some cut and shut of the content as they have to edit it to make an hours programme. Every time I see a Boxster I think hmmmm. if only. I liked the US version including when the 57 Chevvy caught fire on Mike Brewer, made me chuckle. All part of the show.;)

We had this very same conversation on the Porsche forum a few times....once in the early days when they 'restored' a Porsche 928.....again when they 'improved' a 944 turbo and finally with the infamous Boxster episode. Please, if anyone ever finds a Boxster in that condition for a 'bag of sand' mail me and I will pay you double for it ;-)

To cut a long story short (we do know the real detail relating to the above episodes) it is just an entertainment show and a damn good one for petrol heads...I've been hooked since the monstrous early days ...who can forget the rattle can painted wings on the Capri :)

Far more concerning is the fact that Mike Brewer had recently went public on Facebook about the trolls and insults he has suffered. That, assuming it is authentic, is really sad as all Mike and Ed do is entertain us.

All too true Jon, but that is the world we live in now, where insignificant people can hide behind a key board and lambast someone who usually can't answer back for themselves. And, as you say all in the name of entertainment eh?

True Tony,

If it is authentic, I really feel for mike Brewer who is in fact a really nice guy. To go public on Facebook, he must really have been affected by the idiots...shame on them all.

The big problem for the program is that same problem that all entertainment TV shows face, that they have to make it entertaining so as many people will watch it - it's the same way Top Gear went. The way they have to fake bits of it is incredibly patronising, and I'd be way more interested in the background stuff they don't show us. For example Ed sitting down with a cuppa and spending two hours on Google trawling forum for answers... Or rather, I'd guess that would be one of the researchers, but you get the idea.

The format of the show does a lot to make Ed and Mike look a little bit rubbish, but thats how shows are packaged these days. I still watch and enjoy it though :)

I've posted this video before, but it shows Mike in a completely different light - not the dumb ass dodgy geezer made up for TV crap they have to present.

That said, stick anyone in a Chinook landing in the middle of a fire fight, the pilot being shot in the head and the helicopter being rendered almost unable to be flown - and I think you would see the real side of any person!
