Wheels done...a step too far?

My wheels have always been in great condition but had a little quirk that always bugged me.

They were gloss black on the front and matte black on the inside of the dish. This looked fine but the contrast of the shiny against the matte always mate the dish look dull and dirty, even though they were spotless.

Every show and shine competition had judges running a finger on the inside of the dish looking for dust and dirt.

I toyed with various ideas and finally got the hump badly enough to refurb the (perfectly good) wheels as the painted calipers were looking tired anyway
and having replaced one recently it was an odd colour from the others.

The car went in to the body shop to have the hubs, calipers and wheels done.

I took a brave pill and went for something a little different...gloss black on the front of the wheels (again) but the inside of the dishes are now GTS Feueroange to match the body work.

I'm undecided at the moment as to whether I'm keeping them like this. the cleaning required is kinda my thing anyway and it's nothing I wasn't doing already. I think they're gonna take some getting used to...

My view on the orange inners: alloys would look the business all black - the reason is - from the photo you would think the inner orange colour was an extension of the hub - and it also detracts from the painted callipers.

Well my personal opionion on the wheels that they look rather bland, I think neon pink would be a better contrast.

Your car your choice, but for me it works. I see what @DavidM says about it distracting slightly from the calipers but I'd keep it mate. Also as your into your cleaning and show and shine stuff it'll make the car look superb when you've cleaned them.

That really is one amazing colour. Even better than the Java Green 3 series we saw in the show room recently

I love unusual colours. One of my ambitions is to strip a Z3 down to the bare body shell and have it stripped and painted the most jaw dropping colour imaginable. But it has to be done like it left the production line like it. No original showing through. So I think Fire Orange goes on my short list

Keep it in my opinion. The contrast is great.
Just need orange in the centre caps on the wheels now to make them stand out - maybe just the letters

I think the rim dishes are perfect in orange. The hubs look a bit like spacers in these pics but it's always hard to judge from pics as it'll be different when standing next to it.
Really like the inner rim in body colour...

The wheels look great and compliment the excellent bodywork on your car. Makes my Z3 look very sad. Congratulations on your fantastic car.

A while ago someone posted a picture of an E85 Z4 in bright fluorescent green and it looked awesome (to me anyway) and that's where I had the idea of doing my callipers in the same colour. Bright is good!!

ps. I was talked out of doing the callipers bright green (for now) and they ended up bright blue instead.
