3series F30 wheel are 7x16 with 5x120 hole pattern.

But they have ET 31. So pushed outward about 15mm compared to standard z3 wheels. ie same affect as 15mm spacers?

Wondering if they'd work on a Z3. Hole pattern is the same but what about the centre hole sizes? I can't find anything about that centre hole. Will it fit?

A lot of the new bmw wheels have a lot smaller centre.
Not sure when changed was implemented.
Not sure what size difference is but if i was to give you a for talking sake answer
Our zeds centre cap is about 65mm and the new ones about 40mm difference is significant.
You would need to get seller to measure for you but i think you'll find they won't fit .
Stephen.

All E series and F series BMWs have a 72.6mm centre bore size with 5 x 120mm PCD. So, apart from the offset, all OEM wheels for any of these should fit the hubs.
Only the newer G series are different, as they have changed to 5 x 112mm so centre bore size may have changed aswell.

Is there a site listing these things?

What things? Things i asked about on this topic. ie list of wheel sizes with bolt hole patterns, centre hole.
ALL BMW wheels before 2019 are 5 x 120mm bolt hole pattern.
ALL BMW wheels before 2019 have a bore/ hub size of 72.6mm.

ALL websites listing styles of BMW wheels only give offsets, widths and diameters, as they were all the same in the other respects so don't bother listing them. ;)

So you are safe to choose any style of (BMW spec) wheel you like, as long as the offset is within tolerances (with or without spacers). PS spacers are not a good idea IMO, as they change the fulcrum point of the suspension which can lead to premature wear of bushes and linkages, as well as changing the geometry of the handling. But ETTO.

The e39 5-series is 74.1mm.

But I think that was the only exception.
Correct.

ALL BMW wheels were not 72.6mm bore - see e39 above. As far as I know the rest were.

E39 wheels work but need a spigot ring.
I’ve a set but used them yet.

As for wear of bushes and fulcrum points etc. I’ve run various offsets and spacer for over 10 yrs and 60k miles.

Car is on 140k plus miles.

Can’t say any bushes or wheel bearings have worm prematurely- maybe when I’ve done 100k more I’ll know..

At this age any Z3 suspension needs refreshing regardless of wheels / mileage

I’ve used the offsets and spacers to give not just looks but also the feel I want (ie wider on track and less so on road wheels). Wheel size and width can have a big difference in feel - my preference is non staggered set up (same width all round on 17s).
Doesn’t look as nice as some wider and bigger 18s I’ll admit!
Ride is nicer with some sidewall in the current roads so you idea for 16’s should be comfy.
Will not be shape around the track but I’m guess that’s not your aim…

And before the other old chestnut comes up, yes my insurers know. Get a proper classic issues that gives agreed values and and lets you send a full list of your mods
And yes I’ve actually had a claim with non ‘genuine’ wheels on the car and the car was inspected by an assessor and claim successful.
Again it wasn’t the ‘meerkat’ insurer but a classic car agreed policy - Classic line in my case but I’ve heard good things about Footman James.
Adrian flux is another.
They are brokers that use insures you can’t access via meerkats.

So. After all that. The idea of using F30 steel wheels on a z3 (507ish rebody) is sound?

Nice classic looking pepper pot. 16" with ET31 to push the wheel out around 15mm.

Yay or nay.

Thanks guys

I know these aren't "the" pepper pots that we z3'ers talk about. But they are kinda pepper pot style, ring of holes. Sorry for the confusion.

I saw this car with steel pepperpots advertised a while ago. Never seen these in the flesh.
