Any threads on trouble shooting the windshield washer system? My headlight washers work just fine but nothing from the windshield washers.

There's a one-way valve underneath the insulation material, plugged into the nozzle that can fail. They are about £5 from dealer.

Also worth cleaning out washer reservoir with baby bottle sterilising fluid. Add a few marbles and shake. Yes it does work ;) And checking the filter where it leaves the reservoir. Also about £5 from dealer I think.

Might be motor but not seen one fail yet.

Unlikely to be locked nozzle if both failed. Unless you've been polishing car.

I think it might be the motor... dried and crusted fluid all around the base of the motor. Just ordered a replacement for $24.00 including shipping. BMW genuine was more than double that price.

I like the baby bottle idea!
Cheers and thanks.

Hi Layne, the filter is part of the rubber seal which the washer pump pushes into and is easy to clean out. To be honest I’ve never seen one so blocked that it stopped the washers working. I have seen many pumps fail on many makes of car. If you have a 12v circuit tester it is easy to see if the pump is being fed a “live” feed.

Hello Tony,
The voltage is good to the motor connection, the rubber seal is supple and the filter is clear. Attached is a photo of the motor.

New washer motor did the trick. $24 including shipping from Pelican Parts. 10 minutes disassembly, 5 minute install including refilling the reservoir.

Thanks to this forum and @colb I sorted out my gunge tank screen wash reservoir yesterday. Milton and Marbles did the trick- now all working perfectly and a nice clean reservoir
