Winter cill replacement.

Hi all, Winter cill change beginning. Rusty patches turned out to a collection of wet mud in front of the plastic wheel arch protection? I have no idea how it has collected there over the years but it obviously stayed damp and slowly set the rot in.
The job has been slowed up with the discovery of a family of squatters living in the inner cill!
I now know why new BMW cills are so expensive ..... the packaging is 50% of the cost.

When I changed my sills I found a mouse nest inside the offside one. complete with a store of fallen birdseed from the feeders. The little blighters had chewed through the insulation of the wires on the low brake fluid warning thingy!... MOT failure!

There is a thread about it somewhere on here............or is it on .net?

Bonzo, ours was the same. There was a nest of leaves and plastic and 3 mice. I still haven't worked out how they got in? Where do those wires run?

The wires are from the level indicator cap on the brake fluid reservoir. They run downwards.
