Interesting, can I ask what you’ve done suspension wise? I’m hoping to be doing some ‘climbing and sprinting next year, ‘98, m44.
Not sure if he’ll be there, but John Bunting is always worth a chat. Comes over from Kano, Nigeria, gets the Jedi out of storage, does three weekends of Competition, sleeps in the Landrover, back to storage, back to Kano.
He did Forrestburn in Scotland, 26/27 Aug, I think he said Wiscombe was his last ‘23 event.
Nice bloke, I’m sure someone said in his 80’s now. Still bloody quick though.

Hi, I peddled an M44 around for a few seasons. I put a bilstien kit on it and polybushed all round. Nice little car and more agile tham my present 2.0ltr I have put a cheaper lowering suspension, poly bushed, bigger front ARB and I now run on Toyo Proxes R888r. Had an ECU tune, which appears to have benfitted. We have to be power tested and weighed for classic marques handicap.
Ill keep a look out for John, sounds a knowledgable character.

Anyone who flies over 3000 miles for a bit of weekend motorsport can definitely be classed as a character. 🤣

I specifically didn’t want a 6cyl, if I could help it anyway, my lad has had a few e36, I found the 4 cyl cars a bit more manoeuvrable. Also I marshal a bit, the 6 cyl are visually much less pointy than all the 4cyl Mx and Honda.

I’ve gone wide body with poly on the arms, rubber in the beam, though that will be filled with poly to firm it up. Rear adjustable for toe and camber. 3L rear arb with spherical jointsand braced mount on the arms. Lowering springs and eBay dampers (to start, probably Spax adjustable at a later date), spherical top mounts. Braced damper mounts on the arms, just in case I eventually go true coil overs, though I think that’s unlikely.

M3 solid offset bushes at the front, spherical top camber mounts with 40mm inverted Bilsteins and adjustable platforms. I haven’t settled on what I’ll do for the front arb, or how I’ll mount it, either to the arms or the struts. Stiffer lower front brace, still to make an upper brace. I’ve been toying with future proofing it and fitting sill mounts for stands. I have brand new sills, a bit loathe to drill holes in them.

Road tyres as it’ll be my daily, though I do have various sets of wheels I can swap to if the budget allows.
Done nothing to the engine, the head was skimmed and the valves lapped when I got it as the gasket blew. Pipercross filter, I’ll make a stainless rear system over the winter. I have a lightweight flywheel, but I need to figure a clutch and don’t have the time at moment.

Thats a lot of work, I have some coilovers to fit over winter. Looking for a stiffer rear ARB. I have to improve too.
I do have a stainless cat back,. Got rid of a lot of weight also.
Just love the sound of a six pot.

John Bunting is in tge entry list

Goid luck

It spiralled, a Lot.
As my wife constantly, ahem, ’reminds’ me.

The paintwork is poor and will remain so, it should pedal quite quickly, if I remember how, years since I’ve been against the clock but I’ve done enough track days in the meantime.
