Hi all , me zeds in bits just inslalled new rad, , expansion tanks , hoses etc , put it all back together last night an noticed what I thought was a small leak from the pipes on this unit, so any ideas wot its called an any ideas on tightening the pipes joining to it,
There seams to be some plastic locking ring ?????
Also another leak from the drain plug , shitty plastic thing that has a rubber seal at the end but none where you would expect on the screw tread ,so now its all back to square one in bits again an so am I

Looks like your oil cooler to me Moz from that picture. Is that the drain plug which came with the new radiator? If it is I would be wanting some more antifreeze f.o.c. from the supplier at the very least if it doesn't seal. Sorry to hear of your problems.. Hang in there mate.

Tony.

I think that you need to hold the black part of the connector with one hand, pushing the pipe "on". At the same time push the grey part towards the black part, then it should slide of the steel tube. They do get tight though probably been on since new. Freeing oil/spray may help.

Yeh did sum more reasearch last night an u guys r correct, oil cooler indeed, wen I stripped the expansion tank off found a valve, thingy broke, turn out its a thermo valve all part of the cooling system to the autobox, which mays me think its been like this for a while, coz an last years eurocruze wen I went up the mountains and the gearbox was under load cud smell a funny burning a bit like hot oil or brakes but only happened uphill, hopefully cured this now , time will tell, just need to sort another rad today one with a drain plug that actually seals,

Well just installed 2nd new rad an theres still the odd drip from the drain plug.this time I put some ptfe tape around the thread which has almost cured the leak.however im so p $ ssed off gona leave it an monitor the situation.i have now found a rubber washer to fit the plug so if needed I'll redo it with more ptfe an this washer.cant understand why they dont suply one as in its supplied form it dont work.Avin said that the rad is of decent quality. At £50 I shouldn't be complaining. Bm original is £300. Ouch.
Gonna have a run around tomoz see how we go.

If the PTFE tape doesn't work you'll have to go back to the predecessor of PTFE, Boss White & Hemp;).
Good luck tomorrow...

Blimey Dave, that's a blast from the past. I last used that stuff when I fitted the unions in the radiators when we built our house 31 years ago. Good stuff though.

Boss White and Belzona Molecular Metal were part of our fitting kit back in the 70's during my time at the steel works
