On start up particularly, I can hear a ticking noise. In the old days I would have said: "Tappets need adjusting". But not with this engine? Does anyone have any suggestions and should I be worried.
Many thanks in advance,
Gordy.

Hydraulic lifters most likely the issue, if it does not clear when warmed up or after driving there may be other issues.

worth a read.

Before you grab the spanners try an engine flush, STP or Wynns for example and an oil change, could be a lifter with a blocked oil way etc.
Try cheap first ;)

And probably 1 or 2 that are faulty. Engine oil with flush first, then new oil and filter.

Tony.
