just been on ebay and had a look at the "sold" prices of some 2.8l roadsters ..... i got quite a shock ...how cheap are they please ... i mean theres perfectly good low milers that have sold on there for between £1300 and £1500. Its really sad to see this as i feel that our cars are not valued at the right level and are getting a raw deal. I mean its great if your in the market to buy one as ive never seen prices so damn low ... not that im intending on selling but at these prices i really couldnt afford to sell anyway!! ... What are your thoughts as to the future values of the Z3 2.8l prefacelift ? Even E36's are at a higher selling level than the Z3 2.8l ... i bought and sold five BMW E30's last year and the prices of the E30 have shot up over this last year compared to even last years prices ... I made good profit from all of the cars last year but compared to what ide of made now its probs double now.

Whats going to happen to the z3 2.8l wide body ... is it ever going to increase in values and becaome a desirable BMW like the E30 has become and the E36 has started to become ??

Yup, Zed prices are not where they were when I bought 4 years ago. I struggled to get a decent 2.0 for under £5k back then, but you can pick them up for less than 2k at the moment :( Good news for new buyers I guess.

It was the amount of M Roadsters being sold at around £6k over the last few years surprised everyone...

Wow £8k for this http://www.autotrader.nl/auto/bmw/g...8i-handgeschakeld/detail/?zoekopdracht=bmw-z3

It's also because of the time of the year.
The same car in 6 months time will be 20% more expensive.
People don't buy convertables just before winter...

That's why I bought a UK car....to drive in Belgium.
The reasons are simple:
What is the second hand market for UK (RHD) cars? --> Very limited
Even more so for cars that are purely for "pleasure" as the Z3.

Time of year has a big hit on soft top cars. As said great if you are buying and crap if selling.
I always smile when I think what I paid for my 'M' at the end of December last year.

time of year definitely, as well as the fact the Z3 has always been an under rated and therefore an undervalued car. ebay is not in my opinion a good indicator of the value of anything especially anything "niche"...like the Z, to many idiots buying and selling...

the 2.8 suffers a bit more I think as they are perceived as juicier and the vanos problem is well publicised (it put me off the 2.8 when buying), the 1.8 and 1.9 8v is considered underpowered and compared to the 1.9 m4416v I think it probably is. what I have noticed is the 1.9's are seen as(and are) the most reliable, insurable and whilst not as "thrilling" as the bigger engined models they represent a good middle ground between fun and practicality, as do the 2.0 and 2.2, when I came to buy my Z running costs and insurance were a serious consideration so I stayed away from the 3.0 and 2.8.

hence a good 1.916v with reasonable mileage and body condition will hold its own,I keep an eye on 2nd hand values too and have not seen another auto atlanta blue Z3 walnut tan interior/power hood with less than 60k and a FSH for under £3750..I have also noticed interior spec and things like powered hood and heated seats make a difference to the asking price as does geographical location,in and around london there is as much as a 20% premium on prices of anything automotive.

which is why I bought mine in norwich!

And hairdressers just aren't making what they used to. I bought my 1996 z3 1.9l 2 months ago for $3500.00. The check engine light was on, and it needed an interior door panel and a rear window. Most of anything else was selling for over $6,000.
