Welcome from Nottingham. What model zed is it. If its a 2.8 then you could always do the manifold mod

It's the baby 1.9 easiest model to get
Lacks power but want an easy swap 2.8 looks a lot of work and hard to find plenty or donor 323 and 523 cars around here and I've been offered a 2.2 with ecu and key cheap

Hi, I know @bertiejaffa researched outing a six shooter into a 1.9. Maybe he can shed some light on this for us?? JIM

Welcome buddy

If your looking at engine swaps you need to look for engines out of e36 3 series as the 5 series has a different sump and won't fit

Also you need to find out if your car is EWS 2 or EWS 3 and you will need a ecu with deleted EWS but it will need to match the ews you have on your car and then you will need it deleting on the car aswell , this is a case of joining 2 wires (EWS is bmws immobiliser system) EWS 3 is abit of a pain in the arse but 2 is simple

As for engine size , don't bother going for a 323 , you won't notice a great deal of difference , go for a 2.8 if you can , or if you have the money spend afew grand on a 3.0/3.2 m3 engine
