Wow, that's a hefty price for the fixing kit...

Prices for used are absolutely all over the board! I have been tracking them for about a year now and £400-£1995 have been sold with a high asking auction starter price of £3295. JIM

Just been several hard tops with the kits for sale over here for less than £500. You have to be quick too.

If you don't mind the colour as you can get it wrapped or re sprayed.

I believe I could make a hardtop shell for about 350€ (just the fiberglass).
I don't know what the rear windscreen and rubbers would cost to have it finished.
The finished product could be more then the 500£ mentioned here....but then again mine would be a new hardtop, not a used one.
For the hardtop there is no discussion if a fiberglass would be good enough (instead of metal) as the standard ones where fiberglass.

Regards, Koen

My Weissman is fiberglass and I am pretty sure they all are but I have never had a close look at a BMW lid.

Because I plan on buying another car from the UK I'm always trolling sites for HTs and fitting kits to come with it. In the last year and a half of daily searching I have never seen an advertised aluminium HT for a Z3 but there may be some out there somewhere.

Also, there's the liner and fitting kit to consider. That would make it more expensive than a used HT In the UK but would likely be about 1/2 the cost of a used one in NA. And as you point out it would be new!! JIM
