Just got my 1998 1.9 Manual Z3 last Wednesday and still finding out all about it !!!!!

I want to install a Bluetooth link for my phone, but the Sony CDX-GT270MP that is fitted doesn’t have Bluetooth. Not a problem I will replace it with a new DAB radio that has Bluetooth / USB etc.

However, there appears to be two microphones fitted, one stuck top left and one top right, on the windscreen. Are these a standard fit on Z3’s? And where do their cables go? Or are they for something else , like part of the security system?? I’ve looked on the internet but can’t find anything about them.

I would be grateful for any info
Thanks

Do you have a flashing led in the dash or console on the early cars with the windscreen ultrasonics you press the led to disable them when the roofs down i believe.
The later zeds use microwave sensors which do not react to wind, they just sense the difference in the field they generate by an object passing through it.

That's it exactly, led in the consul between the heated seat/aircon switches. Will try pressing/check handbook for this, many thanks Antm72

Thanks jonco, couldn't find this in the cars handbook. Did the supplementary manual come with your car?

Tried to fix the microphones this morning only to find that the left one needed a bit of double sided tape, but the right one has a broken holder. Looks like the plastics has degraded. Does anyone know if these mic holders are available as a spare part.....or even better anyone know a part number for them.
I am assuming that they would only be a BMW dealer spare part.
The mic has a ball joint on the end of it, and I would guess that it just pushes into the holder?.......unless someone knows different :banghead:

Any info gratefully received
