Z3 New sill covers - protection and spraying.

Have searched for a previous thread on subject but can't find info for new sills - plenty for repair and restoration.
Having bought a new wing panel, which I am having professionally sprayed, I started a sill inspection - last one was 5 years ago.
Previous sill cover repairs have stood up fairly well, but a few signs of corrosion breakthrough appearing - actual structural sills are fine with only minor surface discolouration.
Didn't fancy doing further repairs, and then re-visiting again in the future, so have ordered new OEM sill covers from local dealer.
Contemplating doing stone guard and rattle can paint spraying myself to reduce costs.
Has anybody done this themselves? Advice on same welcomed.

I'm intending to do mine off car and then see how good the match is. With the sill not being in prominent/direct view I'm hoping any difference will not be noticeable. I had the wing panel professionally done as any difference would be more obvious. Hellrot has usually blended in well on other bits I have done on previous minor repairs. Are you applying a stone chip protection to lower portion?

Hi the car is Boston Green most of the paint work except the sill covers are in good condition I intend to get the sill covers stone chipped protected and then painted

When I had my new sills painted, I asked the body shop if they could do the stoneguard first and they just didn't seem to want to do it and so they ended up with the same paint as the rear wings done at the same time. They don't appear to have picked up any stone damage however.

When I had the new sills fitted on my Titan silver one they stoneguarded first then titan spray last also waxoiled the chassis section

Just had new sills painted - took them to local paint shop along with one of the old ones for colour matching. Great job done - including stone chip first then Cosmos Black over the top (And on the inside). It cost me £230 plus VAT but I coudn't be happier with results (I didn't ask them to do stone chip or to paint inside but as they had the original they did it like that anyway. They look great on the car - can't see any difference from the rest of the car.

I had mine done earlier this year. There was fortunately no rust other than staining on the under side which was blasted off. Took them to a local professional painter who primed and stone chipped them and painted them topaz blue. I gave him my fuel filler cover for a colour match. I am very pleased with the result.
