Thanks for the add. Picking up my 1998 Z3 M today. I have wanted one of these since the beginning. I test drove one of the 4 cylinder models when I was fresh out of high school. I couldn't make the $569 payment work for while going to college, so I had to love Z3's from a far. Later when I got married I got lucky enough to have a friend let me barrow one when we left for our honeymoon, but still could not afford my own. I finally just told my wife, life is to short and I have wanted this car for to long. I can't wait for the drive home! Anybody want to tell me about their first experience with their Z3?

Welcome @GetawayCar!

I got divorced and decided to have a mid life crisis so bought my first Z3 about 6 years ago. On my second Z3 now, after a brief time with a Z4. I was originally hooked on the Z3 when a mate let me have a go in his M Roadster about 8 years ago. The M is on my list for a future car, but doesn't quite fit my situation at the moment.

Cheers, Gary

That's pretty cool. I told my wife I was planning my midlife crisis and she would have to pretend to be my new girlfriend!

Welcome from Canada!! Pics of the car and the new gal friend always appreciated now that the temps have dropped to minus double digits!! Enjoy the ride both in the car and on the forum. JIM

My first experience with the Zed is a lengthy story starting with my 10 yr old granddaughter spotting a Z3 while on vacation on Canada's west coast. When we returned home she saw a Z4 one day in Winnipeg. She told me a few days later that we should buy a project car we could work on together and suggested A Z3 or a Ford F-150. Not wanting a truck I began a low budget search in Canada and the USA. Too expensive so tried the UK and she found the car she liked and after a lot of research found it would fit that budget we'd set. Bought the car sight unseen and had it decontaminated, the service sent me 153 pics as they progressed which confirmed the car to be rust free. Transport to the ship, the ship ride to Halifax, NS and transport to my drive were all arranged using only my iPhone. The smile on that pretty little face made it all worthwhile and we love to go for a cruise whenever we can., JIM

Welcome to the forum @GetawayCar from me too.

Same sh*** as Gaz. I let her take all the furniture and all the other crap and I left with two cars.
One of them was an 'all singing buttons and bells' Merc Avantgarde, which bored the hell out of me to dive (her choice) as it kind of like drove you and to make matters worse, it did not even have a dip stick, as every thing is done via the OBC and I could not be bothered to work out what all the buttons and other crap were for as I did not sign up to be an astronaut.
I had loved the Z3 from the day it was shown to the public but at the time it was not practical.
At my buds garage I had seen that he had a Z3 in his showroom.
I drove over one morning and waved the keys for the Merc in front of his face and pointed at the Z.
We swapped keys and I drove off a very happy chap.
Next time I met the EX, she asked "where is the Merc? Have you crashed it"?
I pointed at the Z and to my to my great amazement and I quote:
"I can see why you have fallen in love" she said.

P.S. Life's a bi*** and then you get divorced.
