z4 e85 front suspension

i have a 2006 e85 2.5. & would like to replace the McPherson struts what i d like to know is can i use struts from a e46 if not why not ..has anyone tried this did it work ok ?

hi tony no its just the e85 is built on a e46 system & new e46 parts look the same & up to 1/3 the price of e85

Best way to check is look on Real OEM. Check the part numbers against each other, I would imagine they’re different.

E46 front dampers work fine but you'll ideally need the M Sport versions. The Boge Super Touring units are perfect. The valving will be very slightly different but you're probably replacing high mileage worn out ones so....

hi thanks for that I've got some e46 dampers & physically they look the same I'm really after a softer ride and as e46 parts are so much the same as e85 & a lot cheaper & easy to change I'm going to give them a try the next thing that's bugging me is will there be a advantage to swapping my control arm bushes for offset z4m ones ?
