My Z4 2.5 sits on 18" rims with wider tyres at the back 225/18 on the front 245/18 at the back is this normal? I assume the alloys are the same size? Has odd makes all round (pet hate of mine) so looking to replace all four. Obvious grip improvement with the wider tyre but not sure of the full benefit?

Err, that doesn't make sense...

What wheels do you have Paul? Usually the wider tyres are on the rear and would be 245/255, so sounds like something is back to front...

Think you've read it wrong @GazHyde? Paul is saying they are wider on the back and is asking if this is correct. ;)

i would check the rear for the markings of what J they are to see if staggered they may be a square setup and this will explain the 245 i would normally think 255 if not 265.

Sorry, took me a few attempts at reading what you put to understand it. Trying not to be the grammar police, but that sentence needs an extra comma

The standard OEM tyre sizes are 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 on the rear.

Staggered set up always wider at the rear Paul. The wheels will be different widths back and front. Those Elipsoid wheels are nice well worth having them done up mate.

Tony.

Staggered set up for 18" is 225 front and 255 rear that is for up to 9" wide wheels if 10" then i would presume you would need 265 rear otherwise you would probably be stretching the tyre. If they are not staggered then you can get away with 225 all round but wheels would look lost in the rear arches unless a very different offset

As a staggered set they will be 8" front and 8.5" rears, unless you read something different off the stamps on the rims. Tyre OEM sizes are as stated before - 225/40/18 & 255/35/18.

Inside rim Paul. Whip a wheel of and you'll see it stamped up.

I have an audi tt with R8 alloys which are titanium and that look fab (in my opinion) hope you can get an idea from the pic although they could do with a wash, thought i had a better picture than that but if you want to see them up close thats no problem, let me know and I will take a couple of photos and post them for you.
