Zedonists Project "Frank Martin"

The new family toy, it became apparent fairly quickly that with a wife, 4 kids & two dogs The Ford Galaxy was not going to be man enough for the job of ferrying the Zedonist Clan for A 2 B and on to Z in comfort, or style.

So was born "Project Frank Martin", a 2007 VW T5 Transporter SWB 2.5 PD 174 Window Van

Now it arrived with some great kit on it already as you can see in the photo's, but in true Zedonist tradition, you can guess what will be coming in the next few months.........Cue A Team montage music...............

I also managed to get the Z3 involved in the pictures!

Arr, good old Jason Statham. Love those Transporter films. Nice choice of "van" by the way.

I bought the (now ex wife) a Mercedes A Class CDI Avantgarde a few years ago. Did not like it myself, but it was a handy bit of kit, as you can take all the seats out and turn it into a small van. Not expensive to run except that we get hit big time over here with road tax if you run an oil burner.

Mike, thats one of the reasons i bought it, it is so versatile, can go from family wagon, to load carrier in seconds, and i can now also buy my 4m long deck boards for the caravan, and not pay an extortionate delivery charge!!

Mick, it's not as simple as same engine, yours will be tuned differently, different gearbox etc and so the emissions will be different, higher in this case, and that's what the tax is based on.

I assume so as it is a T5, it is the 6 speed manual, there are 3 versions of the engine to my knowledge so far, AXD, AXE and BCP, from what I have read so far I have the BPC version. I have also read that there numerous gear boxes, never simple is it, but I will try and clear it up for both of us, what exact model do you have?

Hi Mick,

We both have the same gearbox, differences between mine and yours, is mineis FWD, yours is 4 wheel drive, my CO2 emissions are rated at 229g/km and yours at 278g/km, my kerb weight is 1798kg , your kerb weight is 2229kg, so you can understand the difference in emissions really
