Z3 M43 1.8 (1999) and Z4 E85 2.5 (2003)
Had two newly acquired Z3's in the Shed today from Gloucester for a Health Check, both scanned with the Launch Tablet and various codes found, most cleared but a few returned which will need further investigation. One is an M44 and the other a M43 just like mine. The M44 needs new rear Calipers, discs and pads are pretty new so some one had given it some love although they put it back together with the slider pins dry, no brake grease. Temporary fix by adding some grease and a check of the piston revealed it wasn't seized but the piston rubber seal has a hole in so new Caliper will sort all that out.
Rear exhaust intermediate box after the cat is making a din from rust inside rattling around, its got an aftermarket Cat on and the joint with the rear section is not oem so some advice on sorting that needs to be sought from a custom exhaust shop. Middle hanger is also missing so that's another job on the list.
The Maf is really suspect on this car, live data shows its not responding enough so that's going to be replaced as is the idle control valve which is also suspect as the body of it can be turned even with it bolted to the throttle body. Sills on both are very reasonable considering their ages and mileage might be a winter project to explore behind the cover sills. Both are in need of Mazza's tank straps so no doubt they will be in touch with him for two pairs.
All in all with a bit of love they should have a couple of decent Z's and not turn out to be money pits.
