I said goodbye to an old friend last week, a good amount of Z3 and 4 front springs have been changed using this old tool. @Mint.

The time had come for an upgrade and having sent the old one on it's way I ordered one of these on Dec. 4th. After 1 and a half weeks I asked for a refund. Ordered another from the same area, (Cannock) and it arrived after 3 days. But, . . . . . .

Is that chain a safety thing in case of sudden loss of pressure. Or is it to be wrapped around a spring in case it jumps out of the clamps?

It's to stop an errant spring from escaping. Strangely, no one on YouTube bothers to use it. Then again I never did either.;)

bought one of those about 10-12 years ago and although I've probably only used it 10 times I wouldn't get rid if it I love it :)
We had a couple where I used to work. Great bit of kit.

Today was the day. Went over to @MartinH4 house to help him get the O/S/F strut off his E86 as the lower pinch bolt sheared off. We got the strut and knuckle off and took them back home to change the spring over to a new Bilstein along with a new bump stop and drill out the sheared bolt.

We took the hub off and the inner race stuck on the stub axle and no wonder. Whoever fitted it didn't clean off the burrs from the axle, but I will.

Just waiting on a taper thread tap being delivered tomorrow from Amazon to finish the pinch bolt threads.

Good work Tony:thumbsup: but poor engineering practice by a previous with that stub axle, maybe the bearing may have stayed together if they had removed the burrs. I wonder what caused them?

Can only surmise that the original bearing didn't come off cleanly and needed some "persuation" Dave, but either way needed cleaning up before fitting the new one.

Having got a thread tap and a 12mm drill as back up, I now have the hub back together ready for collection tomorrow.

I went to carry out routine testing at Colbourne’s Cafe yesterday lunchtime, someone has to carry out quality control on your behalf ;)=)). Anyway there were around half a dozen Mustangs there again.

I grabbed a couple of handles from B&Q on Monday. Makes these ramps easier to move about.
