What a bodge! I bet your cabin will be cold with over cooling as well. I would take it back and insist on a proper job being completed for that money. I hope you have it sorted to satisfaction soon but I would seriously consider going to trading standards as mentioned above. Can you name the garage so other people can avoid them.

i had over heating on mine.. replaced the thermostat problem solved.. also recently had a loss of coolant this happened to be the o ring at the bottom of the epxansion tank, i removed the radiator and pulled the expansion tank out and give it all a good clean and flush through replaced the original coolant tank.. with original o rings and they have sealed now... not really had much problem with bleeding my coolant just topped up the coolant and give the hoses a good squeeze to get the air out also make sure the heater fan is switched on in the car and on hot...while bleeding

you will probably find that if the thermostat is bypassed i.e. removed the inside, that the car should take ages to warm up and will be using more fuel as probably in open loop mode a lot longer replace the thermostat for a new one... its there for a reason...to get the car to warm up quick....

hope you get it sorted...

That's what i was thinking.
At the end of the day the viscous fan just puts strain on the water pump and i reckon the m44 would be perfectly happy with an electric fan instead

@Stevo7682 My M44 a 97, also has an electric fan, however, the project I had a while back had a viscous fan. Both cars were very similar with the VINS being only 2 digits apart. Mine ended in 05 and the project ended in 07.

The only difference I think was that my zed has air conditioning and that did not. Though I doubt that's the reason for the electric fan.
