Today I passed my driving test !! Wooooo

And managed to get insured for a very good price (for people my age), PHEW

I have a few more bits to put back onto the z before its first drive in my hands tomorrow!

Almost a year since I bought this car, and I couldn't have done the work I have without you guys so thank you

Chris

Thank you.

I guess the DVLA are trying to recover the 700,000 test backlog after covid

It also makes getting a test incredibly tricky as they are in such high demand. The average wait is 6 months! and we had to drive to Worcester from Oxford! Crazy

I thought you said a while ago you would be on the road in July?

Well done anyway, though. Just remember the 'learning to drive' starts from here, not ends here.

You are correct.
I did think I would be on the road in July
However, a combination of my driving instructor cancelling 6 of my lessons at the last minute and turning up to my first test in a convertible, which they said didn’t have good enough visibility so they cancelled the test led to a large delay.

And to be honest I think I was a tad optimistic for my estimate

Very good point on the learning to drive. I definitely still have loads to learn.

My instructor didn’t want me engine braking because it increases wear on gearbox/ engine supposedly, seems like it would be rather negligible to me. Changing down the gears approaching a junction will be a welcome change

Just go steady, young man. A 200bhp, 25 year old, rear wheel drive car can be a handful for people with years of experience, especially at this time of year.
I am sure your parents have told you the same. Listen to them! ;)

Yes, there’s a list of cars not suitable for taking a test in. I think it’s about the tester being able to see as much as the person driving.
