It must annoy you Tony seeing cars being presented for testing in these sorry statesSad fact is Brian, I see that and worse every week.

A few of my relatives are like that and they ferry their kids around in these death traps, one of them pays to get a hooky m.o.t every year, but they think nothing of blowing all there money on going out on the razz at week ends and buying new clothes they don't need.......am i getting old ?sound like my dad did, bless his soulIt does Steve, but that's the whole point. On here every one is looking to keep a car in as good or better condition than when they bought it, where as most people simply see a car as a means to an end, getting from A to B without spending any money doing it. If they turn the key and it starts, that's it for the day.
Tony.
NO Steve, you sound like a nice sensible bloke, they on the other hand sound like arseholes, who don't care about anyone, not even themselves. Apologies for slagging the rellies mate but that really pisses me off.A few of my relatives are like that and they ferry their kids around in these death traps, one of them pays to get a hooky m.o.t every year, but they think nothing of blowing all there money on going out on the razz at week ends and buying new clothes they don't need.......am i getting old ?sound like my dad did, bless his soul

If she said anything, it would have been bullshite, you can only do that to 'good tires' if you go drifting...if she said the truth?
Dan, she had absolutely no idea what state those tyres were in and if I had shown her the pictures it really wouldn't have made any difference because like so many she is ignorant to what it means. But the main question remains: how come good tires could became bold in few miles, if she said the truth?
Check your tires Bad ///Boy....repeat.....ignorant to what it means.
i have, a few times, my mrs car, and i get the blame for not checking HER car. i usual notice problems while driving her car, i ask errr how long has it been doing this, her usual answer - a while and its getting worse (she doesn't tell me on the reasoning it will cost her money). but yes her tires i have seen worse than this persons, i check regularly now (or i get the blame)Holy moly, not seen tyres like that before on a road car, that is bloomin scary!!!!!!
Ermm, you must be married to a non gender specific person then....please note i didn't mention any genders here.
That would have been my next threat Ian if she hadn't left the car. The problem being is I'm not on the counter so I don't get to meet the customer and the management dare not risk offending anyone and they won't push the point. That's the reason I took the pictures in the first place, purely because she would have no idea about the state of those tyres.Sadly, lots see maintaining their car just as an unnecessary expense. They don't see nor care about the connection with their safety and that of others. A sweeping generalisation, but many pay, I suspect, the same level of attention to their kids.
That think they have a right to use the roads at zero cost and s*d the consequences. Well, twelve points should put them right, but then, they're probably not insured either.
@t-tony - while you can't impound the car, I'd have thought you could phone plod as they left with a warning you were about to. A socially responsible action that your boss would support surely!
I suspect the management need to be reminded about their wider legal responsibilities. Wouldn't do them any good to found out letting an illegal car be driven off that was later in an accident. All it needs is all the managers of local tyre places and repair centres to take act the same action. It would do their business no end of good especially as they weren't getting anything from the culprit anyway. I'd rather they offend some toe-rag than have them knock a kid over at a school crossing. Not rocket science - surely. That would have been my next threat Ian if she hadn't left the car. Not to mention that when the garage manager is up in front of the man/woman with the curly wig having had guilty knowledge. Guilty as charged, end of. The folk on the counter surely take your expert judgement as gospel and without question, especially in circumstances like this. The owner has still the option of having the car picked up on a trailer - the expense of that would surely focus their mind.
