There is an occupancy sensor that is part of the seat i imagine from reading the thread its faulty.
Its a seat strip down to get to it.

Part 5 not gonna be cheap looking at it designed to identify a passenger so both airbags fire rather than just the drivers.
If its broken i imagine the intermittency is due to the circuit only being engaged when the passenger is present.

You may get one out of another seat? They strip down easy if you can pick up a cheap passenger seat it may be worth a shot.
It must be a testable part i imagine its a switch so a multimeter set to continuity should prove its ok ?
The mat looks like its sat on the seat base rather than between cover and foam so not in a bad place to swap out.

I don't have the technical capability to strip down a seat!
The bypass thing looks a simple remove and plug in jobby which may be within my capabilities.

Just hope you aren't in a front end collision with Mrs Disca in the passenger seat and the light is on because your bag will deploy but not hers. Order the parts whichever way you're going but don't gamble with her life please. JIM

You can get a plug in occupancy seat bypass for the passenger seat - so the seat thinks someone is always in it and the airbag will go off regardless of occupancy.

Something like this for £10
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bypass-For-...ancy-Mat-Emulator-Airbag-Sensor-/150987109709

If it is the seat mat then this should resolve the issue or at least let us know if it isn't the mat being faulty.

The Emulator certainly work's, purchased that very one, arrived today.
Had passenger in the seat and the light did not come on. Bloomin' marvelous bit of kit.
Did not even fit it and it extinguished the light LOL

I think this is a must have even though I have an air bag light reset tool. Will save time in the long run and is certainly cost effective! Please let us know how simple installation is. JIM

Happily my mate reset the code for me and its stayed off even after we moved both seats back and forth up and down so happy days, not sure why it came on but it wouldn't do it again.
