Another new addition to the Zee famileee

Hi folks, I've acquired a 2.8 from my brother as, with 5 kids, he decided it was too far into the impractical camp (groan).my late mum had a 2.0 (which she obsessed over) and at the age of 40 with a divorce in progress it seems a natural thing to do! I have an A5 (boo audi) as my 'sensible' car.
So my Zee has been slammed by a previous hooligan and my first job is to un slam it. Anyone want to swap springs and maybe shocks?

So is lowering it a good thing? I'm picking it up next week but, to me, it looks wrong. I've done some reading and it seems the best performance mod. I bet this has been discussed to death already so mayby it needs a fresh post. My brother reckons the cambers out. It sounds trivial but I want to keep it and restore it.

Hi Alex and a big welcome to you from here in Lincoln. My Z had been lowered when I bought it but not drastically so I'm happy with it as is. Hope you enjoy your Z. This is a great forum with loads of info and just a little banter too. Where are you located?

The best modification is to change the ARB to uprated models such as H&R this will give you the best handling , and allow you to keep the stock look.

That's very good advice. I'll cruise around as it is, it handles like a track car apparently. Whatever I just want to get the roof down!

Well folks I picked my zee up on the weekend with my little girl (6). We drove it from devon to Cardiff with no fuss. It's a 97 lowered 2.8. It's pretty bare bones, no roof lining so quite noisy. But you know what? I fudging love it. Never had one, as I said earier my late mum had a topaz 2.0 from new and wouldn't let me near it. Now I have her plate on mine.My sister has her car. I'm just over the moon with it and totally 'get' what you guys are into so expect lots of wine fueled ramblings.

That's looks great @Alex, I don't think it's too low at all. I wouldn't go any lower though.

It needs a few bits. New steering wheel. Thinking of a wooden momo or something like that? The one on there is um b@ggered. The camber needs some adjusting. Oh.. and it ain't loud enough! I'm no boy racer chav but that engine is a gem and should be heard by all whether they want to or not. I'm saving up for new pipes.

You could get what you have retrimmed by royalsteeringwheels.com. Jack does some awesome leatherwork, or you could go for alcantara if you prefer. I have one of his standard leather trimmed wheels on mine, and it's better than it came out the factory....
