hello!

Quick and easy question. I got an antenna geommet for my Z. The old one was dalling apart from not being used.

I used the method of removing the old grommet from the top and pushing down the new one. If popped in perfectly. I am a bit OCD and want to know if the fitment is good so nothing gets in.

Pics below: from side and back shot.

Doesn't look quite there too me. It's best to remove the antenna base before squeezing the grommet into the hole making sure the slot engages completely. You then push the base into the grommet from below, a fair bit of force is required to engage it, a blob of grease (or similar) will help it along.

Did you get the right grommet?

Different years have different grommets.

Check my build thread for a how to

Just looked again and its definitely not seated properly, I did mine with the aerial in place and just used some washing up liquid as a lube

Can't remember if it's in the Bentley manual. Easy to do, pull back the boot liner, unbolt the hood pump (if fitted) and lay to one side and then you have access to the base unit.

It is the correct one by the shape of it, just needs pushing in some more, in the close up pics the right side is not seated.

How much more should i push in? Lol. Scared to break it.

I just took it back off. Added some more lube and it is flat on top.

Bottom still same

Yep, looks like the correct grommet, but still not seated correctly. You really need to remove the Base unit.

I need a dyi with pics. I can get everything on but nervous about removing the piece to get to the base antenna

I don't have a pump in my car @Xcution but I would expect there to be four bolts attaching the pump. Just remove those being careful with the hydraulic lines and move it aside to get to the base unit and follow the instructions from there ! GL. JIM
