Well, that was a waste of a Sunday afternoon yesterday, so I thought I would bore you all again after having had a discussion with some F1 punters over a lunch time pint.
That was the worst race this season but people who saw the GP2 and GP3 races said that they made the track look entertaining, as I had hoped it would be with the F1 race, as the track did look interesting.
Quote: "
The track is fine, Pirelli just brought the wrong tyres. You can watch the GP2-races from this weekend and see that there can be great, entertaining racing on this track but a track shouldn't need dramatic tyre drop off to be good, though. The lack of deg just made the situation worse. and, of course, GP2 is a different kettle of fish entirely, as all of the cars are the same, and the drivers are complete lunatics. Hopefully next year with more suitable tyres it will be better. Some tracks have had some boring races in the past, but they've been good this year due to decent tyre choice by Pirelli.
Pirelli were just going conservative since it was the first race here as they didn't know what the tarmac was like since when their engineer visited the track to make a decision, the tarmac wasn't even down.
If it had been, it's likely that they would have supplied super-softs and softs and the race would have been very, very different".
And now we move onto Mr Putin.....Quote: "
Putin just chilling in the pre-podium room, making the already normally awkward room excruciatingly awkward! I was laughing the whole time.
Hamilton walked into the room, went into the corner facing the wall doing his normal thing, rolled his eyes as he turned around, shook Putins hand very quickly, then immediately turned around and started talking to Bottas about the race with his back to Putin. I couldn't imagine racing a 53 lap race, walking into the pre-podium room and SURPRISE! its Putin! He just stares at them and asks "How much weight do you lose from sweating" hahaha....Cool down room now ice cold....The aircon in the room is broken!
Don't worry, Putin will be there. Did Hamilton ignore Putin? I was waiting for the KGB to give him a tap on the shoulder after the Putin snub, hahaha"
I found it ridiculous that so much was made of the fact that the Jules Bianchi crash, the weekend before, had left a black cloud hanging over this race, these drivers get paid a fortune to do their job and if they don't like it, well...! Here is an example, quote:
"I've been talking to some of the Marussia guys as to why Max Chilton retired. Max was not comfortable in the car [he reported a problem with the car going into Turn One]." (read frightened) I, for one, would have thought that Chilton would have done his utmost for Marussia and his fans at this venue?
And then we have the 'Caterham Conspiracy Theory' about the Kobayashi retirement, was his car in a bad way? Did he have problems? Quote:
Caterham say that the reason for Kamui Kobayashi's retirement was that "his brakes were overheating and it was too dangerous for him to carry on racing"
And then here comes the true story, quote:
Caterham's Kamui Kobayashi, who has retired, talking to Jennie Gow on 5 live: "Nothing wrong with the car. The team asked me to stop the car to save mileage
we have a lot of mileage limitation to avoid things going wrong with the parts. This is why I get message from top management… I expect to race in Austin." I bet the Japanese fans were happy....not.
Caterham have been struggling financially following the takeover of the team from QPR owner Tony Fernandes earlier in the season.
My view on the race, if you lot are interested, probably not...
...Rosberg locked his brakes into turn one/two at the start of the race, and then Hamilton won the race.
So, Mercedes have taken the Constructors Championship for 2014 and with only three races to go, USA, Brazil, Abu Dhabi and Hamilton leads Rosberg by 17 points in the drivers' championship but there are still three races and 100 points left on the table, don't forget double points in Abu Dhabi.
We've got a three-week gap until the next race, with Austin playing host to the United States Grand Prix.
Now onto the
Zorg 2014 Friends League.
