Aviation BBMF Grounded

I heard two guys talking about this when we were out last Sunday - they were obviously plane buffs. Said they'd heard that metal swarf had been found in the oil during a service on one of the planes.
The BBC pointed the problem at the pinion gear on the final propellor drive.

Glad to see that they are making progress on it but it seems strange that only the BBMF are affected. All other Merlin engined a/c seem to be OK. I would have thought that if there was a potential problem the CAA would have been all over it.

Latest news - BBMF displaying at least one Spitfire and one Hurricane on both days of the Scampton air show next weekend. Hopefully a step in the right direction .
