Forgot I had a picture of my diff hanger, it's easier to inspect without the diff fitted but you can still inspect it if you can get underneath the car...

Don't matter what it is mate. First rule of pipe work if you can clean and grease it, do, it'll extend the life of these items indefinitely. Lecture over !! :):) You're right though she looks clean around that mounting. Coop's is looking for info on changing the auto oil on his car so I can feel another "How to" in the offing. By the way I had a 3 series 2.5 with a blowing exhaust at work today. The nuts on the front joint studs were completely corroded away letting the joint separate. I heated the flange where the "studs" were fitted until red hot and knocked them out with a hammer and replaced them with new gaskets and 4 nuts and bolts. Was reasonably easy (on a ramp admittedly).

Tony.

Pretty much the same issue we found when looking under BMBabe's Panther, and why I went to the local garage to get them removed before starting on mine in @Lee's garage. Think mine were in worse condition though as it took them well over an hour to remove the 4 of them.

Did you replace yours with nuts and bolts? Obviously easier during assembly in Spartenburg but not so for later maintainance.

welcome to the site man, interesting to find out where she was built, it being a left hand drive... some sort of screen in it also i see over the centre console... looks like a lovely example and will be quite different to the MX5 and S2K, i think you will be surprised, let us know how you get on at a later date ;-) Dave

Thanks, Jim! I've, fortunately, imported cars from both the US and Japan previously so I'm familiar with the paperwork and, at times, the lack of information. Weirdly enough, this is also not the first time I've purchased a car without ever driving it or even one similar, excited to see what it's like to be in and drive!
We'll really need to PM One another if you have any tips you can share. I learned an awe full. Lot over the time it took to get my car home. I'm corresponding with a fellow in Edmonton re a 98 zed and may need to fly out. I'll PM and see if we can get together if I do. JIM

My car finally made it home! Was dropped off last Wednesday, can't wait for the snow to melt. However, it appears that somewhere during shipping someone tried to fold the wing mirror in and broke it.. Trying to figure out what I need to replace / glue / etc to fix this.. Here are some pics - any info will be appreciated! I googled a bunch but am still not sure..

Hello all,

I'm located in Edmonton, AB Canada. I've owned a combined 57 motorcycles and cars including a few different convertibles, two S2000s and a first generation MX-5.

I stumbled across a Z3 2.0 with 56000kms in Japan online that captured my interest for whatever reason so I pulled the trigger. I know the 2.0 wasn't around for too long so I'm struggling to find too much information on it, the car should be on the ocean in the next few days and I should have it by the end of January or so - will be a few months before the snow melts and I can actually see what it's like to drive. Any advice or comments on these cars will be appreciated, here are a few pics:

Thanks, guys! I contacted the shipping company to see whether they would help me out but it appears they will not. I've been in touch with Udo in Germany and have a price on the replacement parts to fix the mirror. I'm going to try and pull it apart first and see how bad it is inside.

Got the mirror frame welded up and reassembled on the car. Now just need to get DRLs going, was lucky enough to find a relay locally but turns out the relay is not where I thought it would be.. Looks like I'll have to mess around to make it work in the fusebox.
