Please can anyone help or advise me .
I have just been out in my car.I got five miles down the road and the left wheel was smoking really badly with horrendous burning almost to the point of fire risk from pads and the disc was blue.
Is there a easy fix to free it . I have tried braking hard but it is still stuck.
Just need to free it. Will a tap on the caliper help or any lubrication? As I'm no mechanic I have no knowledge of brakes.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Tracy.

Probably need to take the wheel off and tap the calliper carefully with a hammer - temporary job until refurb job.

We managed to free the caliper but every time you brake it sticks on again.
Does anyone know how much a refurb will cost approx.?
Thanks

I got quoted £25 per caliper from Andrew Page but that was on a trade account, I think they are about £40 retail

Bit of trouble here as I can't move the car to get it to a garage.
Not sure what to do. Might need to use a mobile mechanic.

Head banging bodge. Free the caliper off again as you did before then place a mole grip or g clamp over the brake hose. Will stop the caliper working. Drive/ limp home very slowly.

Thank you @raymond I managed to get it home very slowly but with masses of smoke from wheel.
We let it cool down free it off but everytime brake pedal is applied it's stuck solid can't move disc.
Here we go again.:(

Eurocarparts do calipers, usually something like Pagid refurbished. You generally get some of the cost back when you return the original caliper. Last time I paid about £70 for a front, and got £25 back when I returned mine.

Glad you got home alright. Only ever had that happen once to me. Just bought the car and front wheel started smoking. Brake pads and discs were down to nothing so the piston would not retract. I think that you should be carefull with the wheel bearing on that side as due to the heat it might have been cooked. When changing the caliper clamp off the hose with a clamp to stop fluid pouring out. Release when caliper is back on and pump the brakes to stop air going back up.

I would ring around your local motor factors on Monday, I think @Grumps only paid about £40 for one
I have looked around the best price in UK is the one in the link.
Any idea of the company you used for £40.00
Still will leave me with the problem of getting it fitted as I can't move it far to a garage.

It's possible the heat may have warped the brake disc by the way. And pads may well be shot.

I don't know that to be a definite consequence. But be prepared.

Don't understand why you don't use a local indy as I did for years.
Never had a problem, built up a good relationship, used to buy my own parts he would stick them on the car.
