Should be done in such way that important touristic / historical points must be touched. Up to me that Tour will be done in 6-7 months, seeing ...much!
Even for people with time it will be a problem: the money! Still like the idea! "Think big!"
I agree with this. I plan to take in either the Monaco GP, or the Spa GP plus some other stuff.

I'm planning the route over the next couple of weeks and will post it up when done. Anything close to the route will be considered, but I know that half a day spent in a museum is 250-300 miles of lost distance and extends the trip by half a day.

Agree, but at least you don't have to say afterwards " I was there but I missed that, shame... Maybe next time!"
But it will be a next time, as there are so many places to go? That's why when we go somewhere, we try to squeeze everything out; no further regrets.

Totally agree with @Zeti! Better to take time to visit sites when you can. That's one reason we never had a preset plan and made decisions based on where and when we were in time. We stayed off autobahns unless we needed to make up time. Travelling this way lead to four trips for me and five for my wife through a good portion of the areas you plan on visiting. Set up a very rough itenary and you'll get so much more out of your trip and best of luck, you'll love those four weeks forever!! JIM

This trip is epic, it would be great if you hooked up with some euro Zs along the way and exchanged some flags..social media?

I've done trips like these before and I always end up with the same problem - the FIA are just too inconsiderate and they want to start the GP without me :). Same goes for the ferries and trains.

I tend to plan for eight hours driving a day on non-tollroads at 50mph max speed. That way, I can catch up by either doing longer days, driving faster or paying the charges.

Looks epic.
And dependant on dates may be interested in joining in somewhere.
Just a couple of observations as i cannot access your preliminary route.
Have you not considered after leaving portugal to criss cross the pyranees from west to your easterly point on plan .Also looks like your going past monaco av you not considered heading north to digne briancon .aosta.to martigne then kick east to furka pass onto livingno fantastic roads etc then drop back down towards venice.

Wow, how the other half live!! I have to consider crossing town from Lidl to Halfords and spice it up avoiding potholes.

I haven't considered anything other than touching all the countries.

All these options will be considered once I have the plan of how far each leg is and how many legs there will be.

I'll be going into Monaco via the route of the oldest hillclimb race. I did it the wrong way last time. This time I'll go the way of the pioneers :).

8 hours driving per day for 3/4 weeks sounds brilliant. Might need the odd rest day though!! Great stuff.:)

I'm more of a "point it South and see where we end up" type though. Remember having to wait 4 hours in the middle of the night in Switzerland once for a petrol station to open. Wife didn't speak to me for years after.

Just ask @deano1712 and @bertiejaffa about my planning and you will know that just wouldn't happen if it were me - famous last words!!!

Pingu's planning is very good I have to admit - his ability to find roads is quite astonishing.....!!

I know he has been talking about this for a while, and while Deano and I initially dismissed it as the trip TOO FAR I am now starting to get itchy feet to do it.............

......although for me it would have to be in the Z.... all of us in the Z's... maybe that reduces the trip slightly but after DTEC it has to be the way surely?

PS... for those who were on the peaks cruise the girl is currently in the garage having all the dents fixed and the front bumper fixed... just ready for another mindless road trip to pebble dash the paintwork =))

It's not restricted to Z's. If you were to do it in an Amazon, I'd be tempted to do it in my van. How do you think I would get on at the Arctic Circle in a van with a pathetic heater?

I'd be quite happy to start at Point A in the morning, maybe meet at Point B at lunchtime and meet at Point C in the evening. Different cars, different speeds, different routes.

You are definitely a lunatic! Nice trip though! If I were to go one week is the limit. I quite fancy Norway. This route is good for me and I could meet you at the top end of Sweden :) I would be in the V8.

Even if they will pay me 200 pounds, I will reject the offer! I like the ice on TV and in the fridge....;)

Which is it? No regrets or I bottled it because it looked a bit chilly?:)

I know penguins are from the South Pole, but I'm up for it - despite the polar bears:nurse:
