To add the problems of selecting a brand is not every manufacturer is consistent. So for example I've just had Avon's fitted to my girlfriends RAV4 and they have glowing reviews. It's a brand new tyre out this year and I have to say I'm super impressed. However I haven't seen any information on an Avon equivalent for the Z for example.

Also take this with a pinch of salt but from my exposure to the TVR world a lot of people run Toyo proxis and they are an absolute nightmare in the wet. I almost span a Chimera 400 on a wet dual carriageway at 60mph in 4th, going in a straight line!

Got nearly new Nankang NS2's all round on the project 2.8 and they are very good to be fair. Quiet and compliant but I haven't driven it in the wet...

Got Landsail on the front of the Devon Zed, drove straight and true without tramlining and felt well connected to the road - but then I was driving in a straight line in the dry (M5) :shy:

Nankangs on mine, seem to be pretty good. Had falkens which didn't last long then Maxxis which were decent but hard to get hold of now. Be interesting to see how the Landsails perform as that's not a bad price for 2 rears.

Had a bad experience also with Toyo Proxies, did a 360 on a roundabout in the wet not in driving at speed in a Renault Clio. That said they were pretty good in the dry.

The way I choose a tyre is by price, looks and then reviews which is probably completely back to front!

Bought Falkens 914 XL not really impressed grips good but rides poor very hard ride
They are on the front as soon as I buy new rears in the future they will be a different make and the Falkens can go on the back.
Probably be a budget tyre as it's not a rocket ship and iam sure some of the budgets can cope some have great reviews.

With your tyre size there is no need for budgets. decent tyres in 16 inch can be had for 50- 60 a corner

i also personally dont like falkens, they are too hard and skitty

I have falken 452 all round and the ride is firm and it does tramline but that said my car is lowered and i've not as yet changed any suspension bushes so probably a mix of everything. I will however buy differently next time.
