Yep. Done the rounds of the tuner/remapping/hacking forums and that’s where nearly all my info comes from. What I’m trying to do is effectively just the prep/initial stage of their work. They then jailbreak (effectively) the DME by removing the EWS hook. Then start playing with parameters to make all sorts of weird and wonderful things happen.There's a few people that offer this service through Ebay, Very handy for bypassing the EWS system after engine swaps and save all the agro running wires to the fuel pump etc. The z3 shares its ECU platform with the E36 which has a huge drift following you'll be better off combing the skidders forums for all the info on the details.
Many of the services on eBay are just taking someone else’s hard work with the remapping and hacking and just downloading it onto the DME. Pretty out of order in my view. Not just theft of a lot of hard work but someone selling a service where they have no idea how to support it. And none of this is to be taken lightly when doing the wrong thing with the parameters can bust the engine.
Selling standard reset/cloned DMEs as a straight factory replacement is more difficult to find. Especially at a reasonable price.
