Never thought about the rear.... I bet you going to say you paid half the price?!!
Would love to see a pic of how proud it sits.

When I replace my side wings/panels I'm thinking of smoothing them and IF this passes MOT could be the solution to relocating the indicator repeaters.

I do like the running light feature too for the sides

Extra brake light can't be a bad thing either....then there is the bonnet badge, these can run white light too you know....extra DRL anybody?!

Hi @Dino D, as I said I got one from the US last year for the boot roundel, as in the pictures. It lifts the roundel off the body by about 5-6mm. I fed the wires through one of the holes for the original roundel locating pegs then it simply attaches with double sided tape, as does the new carbon roundel.

The seller who I bought from doesn't do amber ones nor did any of the other sellers who listed these items from US and Asia. I was already thinking about putting some behind the side roundels.

Tony.

I quite like the rear roundel. Unnoticeable until lit..

@ t-Tony do you think the side indicators be ok as replacement for the indicator repeaters? Seems fine for a z4 so no reason not I guess?

If you check the testers manual Dino, Oh, here you are.

Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must be fitted with one side repeater indicator on each side. Instead of a separate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wraparound lens.

Lamps incorporating a side repeater are marked either with an ‘E’ mark in a circle or an ‘e’ mark in a rectangle above which is a number 5.

However, some vehicles are fitted with a wraparound lens with no European approval markings. These can be tested by standing approximately 1000mm to the side of the vehicle’s rear bumper with the indicator on. If amber light can be seen coming through the front lens (not a reflection) this is acceptable.

So, side repeaters must face the side, they do on a Z4. I would accept them on a Z3. It doesn't state that separate side repeaters have to "E" marked

That's great thanks Tony.

These German ones are pricey but they look well made and have dual function, if I can ditch the original repeaters then worth it.

When you doing yours?!

What do you make of these:

I came accross this one eBay, their full website is here: http://www.schroedie.de/en/For-BMW-...W-roundel-badge-LED-lights-Emblem-lights.html

I messaged them for dimensions and these are 74mm by 6mm but they can make up ones to fit other badges. I believe our side roundels are 73mm.

These can be wired to run continuously in one colour and then flash orange when working as an indicator.

Question is can it replace the side repeater altogether?

Looks a lot like the Z4 style roundel repeater only it doesn't protrude so much..

Sticks out way to much to be use on our cars as the Z4 has a recess to accommodate.

Ps sorry if this is taking it too far off topic, maybe Gaz can make a new thread?
The Z4 indicators are not for me... don't think they suit the Z4 imo, would protrude too much on a Z3

Yes the Z4 ones are very thick. I saw a thread where somebody actually trimmed them down, very fiddly.
These German ones are only 6mm thick and the when sat in the little recess in the gills probably only protrude 4mm so nice and discreet.
