RFT pressures on low profile high load tyres tend to be higher to ensure that the tread stays in contact with the road due to the higher rigidity of the tyre wall.
Our 20i is (without checking) 2.3 and 2.6 bar. Throw more power into the mix (and potentially more weight) I can see that being a little higher still.
I suspect it is needed to keep the centre of the tread in contact with the tarmac (presumably at lower rotational speed) when there is little centrifugal force but high centripetal force. As speed increases centrifugal force throws the tyre outwards. Any mechanical engineers or physicist out there to confirm this?

Running different size to you, I run 2.3 R 2.1 F on 17" NRFT Seem to get the best ride, handling and even wear at that on the e89, this is 2 passengers and no luggage.
