Magnaflow system fitted by previous owner - cost £763 !

I like the sound at idle and under acceleration, and also the pops on overrun. For me though, its too boomy at low throttle openings.
Certainly looks the business mate.
Not the cheapest but it's a quality set up.

It looks very close to the bumper cut out. Is this part of the "boomy"?

:eek:Hi Steve, I had the Powerflow cat back single sport box fitted 8yrs ago and it's getting louder and boomier by the year plus it continued to move over to the left burning the cutout away. Now rectified by DIY straps but the booming is still there. My new ICE system now takes care of the low rev boom :bag: but I would dearly like to go straight pipe from the exspansion box to exit thinking if it's gonna boom might as well be a big one, sound inside the cab open top is real nice but I'm sure there's better out there. OEM is sh*** to say the least for a sports car, BMW knew this at development and fitted a vacuum valve to what is essentially a too short a system to try and rectify but even with this valve open/deleted it wasn't the right sound IMO. Good luck in your search, buy wife some ear plugs case your choice is naff by her estimation.

Even the power of Richards (free) oxyacetylene couldn't stop it moving, so when all else fails good old owner DIY strapping was needed. Time for a change maybe. Twin outlet straight through pipes ?????????

Thanks for the feed back on powerflow @Rha .
I've heard yours and it sounds nice but I really want to avoid that booming noise you mentioned. Can't yours be repacked to quiten it down a bit ?.

On a different note,do you have a Simota induction filter ?.
I seem to remember you having a little trouble getting it to fit and you had to buy 45 degree bend to get it to fit ?. I have the same problem but I have now got a new hose to hopefully get it fitted something like.

Ha ha, Steve wouldn't get it repacked cos I like the sound, the booming is only bad from 1900-2100rpm so try to keep it over this when pulling hard, the boss hates it so doesn't travel in it much.

As for the Simota it did come with a connecting pipe but when fitting it looked to be straining to stay connected so I invested in a silicone one and cut it slightly longer for piece of mind.

To get the full benefit from the Simota it's a good idea to get a decent cold air feed to it (IMO) so this is what I did with my first diy shielded kit.

But didn't think it grabbed enough cold air for my new Simota so stole some more from the kidney grill.

Looks like it might affect cooling but no probs, even in the recent heatwave. Simota is a bit quiet in the cab but people have said it's very audible in the street. The Simota is also fed from a 3in pipe from behind the lower grill.

Phoned the Mansfield branch of Mr.Tyre today for a quote........£600 :wideyed:.
When I nearly had one fitted 2 years ago at the Nottingham branch it was £320,surely stainless steel hasn't gone up that much ?.

So I phoned the Derby branch where I daren't stop at last week and they said they don't quote prices on the phone,so I'd have to drive the zed there for them to asses it properly, which makes sense.
Looks I'll have to chance it there then,I might take Amy for my protection :nailbiting:.

May well do mate as I'm off work tomorrow.
Did you have to wait a few weeks before they could fit it for you ?.

Wow that seems a lot Niall :wideyed:.
