After far too long in bits, with what started as a quick rear end re-bush, the Zed had been off the road for five and a half years!
The re-bush ended up being a complete strip down and powder coat job. And then, as the battery had been off for all that time, the DME forgot who it was, and started another saga sorting that out!
Anyway, MOT'd in January and taxed as of April fools day, ready for the summer.
Off we go for a run out, and for some daft reason, we decided driving nearly 30 miles from home would be a good idea for a first run in a car thats done less than 5 miles in as many years! A car that's on rebuilt suspension, and had engine management issues! What could possibly go wrong!
Well, nothing did, 65 miles on the clock and it didn't miss a beat. Drove lovely on it's new Eibach springs and Spax shocks. Engine ran better than it used to, possibly due to the tweaked file re-loaded into the DME. Happy chap!
Got home, parked it in the drive. Mrs Smiffy then suggested going to the pub for dinner. Fine by me, got back in the Zed, clutch peddle went straight to the floor! Nice little puddle of DOT5 appearing under the car, and the slave cylinder had thrown its hand in! Well, at least it waited until we got home!
