Well thats 8 hours of my life I won't get back, firstly I stripped out the glove box to access the wire that activates the interior light via the remote, found it straight away thanks to @gookah but for some reason it would not activate the solenoid, probably not enough power so went to plan B and put a push button between the seat, stripped out the boot carpets and removed the cd player whilst I was there, then removed roll hoops and cubby box, I used the cd permanent live for the feed, ran it into the cock pit, through the switch and back to the actuator, that lot was easy, getting the actuator in the correct place was a fecking nightmare, managed to get it to pop the boot easily but the boot would not lock in place again, the problem was that the original boot release is sprung back to return the release bar, I had to go digging and managed to find just the right spring for the job, once this was sorted it was pretty much plain sailing, now its all up and running I can remove the boot release.

You can clearly see the added spring

A video might be nice to see your boot in operation

Good stuff Sean, did you use the kit we looked at on Sunday or another one? Bit of trial and error setting up the solenoid.

Tony.

Forgot to add, it appears that I may have blown a couple of fuses, the interior light have gone, it says on the lid of the fuse box that its fuse 33 but which one is that as I can't find any numbers and I also noticed that my front side light is out and the wife told me when I got home that the same side rear is also out.

Mate is was a ######## nightmare, I must have had the boot lock in and out 40-50 times, I was getting well and truly p***** off, I started at 9am and thought I would be done for 1pm, I finally finished at 5pm, the wife got on her moped and brought me a maccys as I was starving.
Its a good feeling when I press the button and the lid pops open though :D

Really great idea Sean and well done for working it all out. Will you have a manual release in case all goes wrong?

I have to say Sean, it was much easier on my Eunos because the boot catch was fitted on the body rather than the boot lid, so wiring it was simpler. Glad you stuck with it though mate, it's one off ! :D It'll be shaved doors and buttons in the bottom of your mirrors next

Its a 10 amp fuse under the bonnet, had the same issue night before the MOT on mine also affects the same side brake light

Oh no it won't, however I would like LEDs in the underside of my mirrors so they light up the floor at night.

I have a plan for that, either a cable release behind the seat, or a hole behind the boot badge with a gromett

was the wire you found the key fob light output?
Even if it is not powerful enough you can still use it to power a relay and that would switch a more powerful feed to the actuator.
To complicated for me pal

I've got some BMW logo puddle lights to get fitted Sean, not sure if they would focus to the floor from mirror height but we could soon see when we do the suspenders. I'm thinking next Saturday?
