They are Tony. The pic doesn't do them justice, I had to lower the exposure to capture the effect in daylight.

Martin called here a few weeks ago now to ask for opinion on these and I had to say they were Brilliant in all senses of the word. Also his steering pipe replacement is a quality piece of gear.

They look really smart!!!
Did you decide to install them in front or behind the frosted lenses?
Thanks Martin. Behind the lens  best way IMO. Just hope it doesn't affect the beam pattern come MOT time.

I think that is the cleanest look.

Do you know when your MOT is due?
October, but may get them checked before then as the tester is a good friend of mine.

Just to add to this
Project white elephant is back on the road with an MOT. Wooo!

I have installed the angel eyes behind the lenses for a close to OEM look. They are wired to come on with the ignition so will be permanently on.
I pointed the aftermarket angel eyes out to the MOT tester. It wasn’t of concern or interest.
The angel eyes didn’t interfere at all with the main beam, dipped beam or any adjustments.
(The MOT tester adjusted one headlight a loooooong way down and a looooooong way up etc to prove the point).

happy days!

Nice to find a tester who will go the extra mile to explain a point.
Reminds me of someone . . . . .

Ok - so I am finally on with this and I have managed to completely split the headlights so the question is, do I stick the angels to the back of the lenses or to the reflector itself and what did you use to do it?

Hi @bertiejaffa

I’ve just seen this message too. I’ve responded to your PM already.

I personally think the best way is to mount the LED halos behind the frosted lenses. I think it is slightly easier as all your work is hidden and you maintain an almost totally OEM look.

I used a hot glue gun and put a bead of glue at the base of the lens. I then sat the halo into this bead and built it up with additional glue.
The halo is pretty solid at this stage but I chose to add an extra bit of strength at the top (as seen in the photos). This is an off cut of stiff cable tie. It’s enough to add support and minimise vibration.
Make sure you etch the headlights black plastic housing before glueing to offer a better key.
Ive done 1200miles around the back roads and mine are solid.

Thanks for all the advice - As you can see these are the halos fitted behind the lenses as recommended and they can be seen in full like new BMW OEM in the brightest of daylight. Many of you will have seen these already on the recent wye vally run and commented how good they look. I am very pleased with them so thanks all,

hello
this may be a stupid question but I read that modifying the head light is a MOT fail, will these halo light not make it fail if you fit them.

Thanks

Dave

Fitting halos will not cause a fail. Aftermarket HID kits will. Even DRLs do NOT have to be placed exactly symmetrically on the car.
The MOT Tester’s Manual is free to view on the internet, have a look. As long as the dipped beam casts a precise image on the testing equipment and which can be adjusted (if need be) then you won’t have any problems. The other thing is the light units need to be securely fixed to the car.
