Ever since I bought my Zed I knew I needed to sort my door pull. It wasn’t bolted on ! it was literally just glued to the door card..and quite badly at that. The recent inclement weather gave me an excuse to do this indoors.

The door card popped off with no damage and revealed the vapour barrier was in great condition

So now to prise off the handle as gently as I could🫤..it took a bit of the leather with it. The handle was definitely knackered.

Sanded the old glue off the leather with wet and dry and gave it a coat of BMW black leather paint from furniture clinic..looks a lot better.

I had a replacement handle to use which I thought was perfect, however on closer inspection I noticed a couple of cracks ..Sod’s law as I literally sold a mint pair on here the week before🙃. So..quick repair with the plastic glue and metal reinforcing with the plastic welder..that isnt going anywhere!

As I have no intention of doing this again I thought I would take the opportunity to reinforce the back of the card at the weak point. I used a cut down 6mm tile spacer and gorilla glue.

Then ..a stainless riv nut glued into the handle meant I could also secure it from the back of the card through the tile spacer

Looking better and ready to go back on the car
