Now, studying one more time at the pictures,
I dont brlieve this HT belongs to this car.
I was talking to the owner and he says it is the correct hard top for the car. It is perched awkwardly tho so may look a bit wrong.

There are some out there for sale in excess of £100k!
I suspect after a decent clean it will look in pretty good shape. Well worth a punt and do a Finding Classic Cars...
It was in fair shape. Panels looked good. N/S headlamp glass was smashed but otherwise looked solid. Would make a superb light project car.

Yes I know Mike but even the pics you show are different from my 190sl, mine has the eyebrows over the rear wheel openings as well. And doesn't have the opening in the bonnet. The 230sl replaced the 190sl and as you can see is a lot more box shaped. Then the 250sl was even more so. Why they didn't stick with what looked good I don't know but I wouldn't turn one down if it showed up in my yard! Also, mine is not completed yet as I need to replace the rear fenders with factory originals I picked up and I have nearly everything else but upholstery in my shop waiting till I get healthy enough to get back at it! JIM
I totally agree with you Jim. As time went on Merc lost there way more and more in the design department. I love the dark coloured one h/t posted. After that era they can keep them.

I totally agree with that too Dave and to be honest I think BMW have lost their way in the design department as well.:(

Yeah mate, no wonder Doc and Marty went back to the future.=)) Nearly all the cars that you see over here could have been made from 4 or 5 steps of drawings they're so alike.
