On the way to station car does not want to slow down. Keeps trying to go faster. Penny drops. Carpet stuck under throttle pedal. One swift pull of carpet and back to normal. Not my day

Just as I was going in a lovely light blue Mecedes SL 1978 was pulling away. In the MOT bay was a wide bodied Renault 5 Turbo and outside was an MGB. Great place to meet other classic cars probably as this MOT station is a tad lenient. Was not complaining as they passed the car even although there was no reserve on the handbrake. Just need to tax it next !

Sounds like an awesome MOT place to car spot!

Eventually got her taxed so the car is fully mobile at long last. The handbrake was still not right so I spent the afternoon doing what t-tony advised, thanks Tony, and took the whole thing apart. Seems they did not adjust the shoes enough but they had removed the all the bolts for me. All adjusted and with anti-seize compound on all the bolts I don't have to raise the handbrake up to my armpit.
