So we gave the Z3 it's debut at Snetterton in the 750MC Roadsports, and got ourselves on the podium! Finished 3rd in class behind a Porsche Boxster and a Mazda RX8.
Also came in 5th overall with two Mk3 Toyota MR2's running engines from the Lotus Evora making up the extra positions.

The weight has been a major focus so far. We've got it down to about 1100kg without me in the drivers seat, so its going in the right direction. I have a friend who is very good with fibreglass moulds, so the intention is to take even more weight out of the bodywork.
I thought I had posted, but did not see it on this pass through, that it would be worth you talking to Patrick at Rouge Motorsports as he (on behalf of the 750 motor club) was developing the "standard" car for the Z3 2.8 race series which is now not getting off the ground. PAtrick still has the 750 Motorclubs modified Car. However they did loads of work and have loads of useful info. tell him I said to talk to him as he has been very helpful to me and has done all that help and not sold me anything except the lowered springs I use on "Black for the track". On the weight side of things he took off the bonnet and had mould done and replaced it with a fibreglass one which he can obviously supply it helped with the weight distribution front to rear. (he also sold the original bonnet on Ebay for what I would call silly money,he also used Gaz Gold Coilovers which I think he still has a load of stock off due to the race series not taking off. I met him when I was looking at changing "Black for the Track" due to breaking a spring. However when I saw what he had done to the Zed I did not have the heart to do that to my car. [I am still not sure what I am going to do as my capabilities improve on track (I do Track days at present and do not think I will want to race)]

At Cadwell Park, last outing, I was pushing the car so as I am obviously getting to that stage I have to think about some roll protection which at present I do not have but I do not want to butcher the car to do it so can I also ask where you got yours done?

LOL I just had a look on your web site and realise you are already talking to patrick! and have the Fibre Glass bonnet sorted etc etc.

I did not see on your website the date of manufacture of your car which will make a difference on the engine between M52B28 or M52TUB28 the inlet on both however is restricted in the throttle body and a change to the M52(TU)B25 throttle body is I am told a straight swap the 2.5 was not used in the Z but was in other cars and it removes the artificial restriction that was put onto the 2.8 engines. There are supposed to be posts on some of the forums about it but I have not found them yet as I am just starting to look. (I hope that helps to redeem for my post without looking at your web site) :bashhead:

Got passed him in the end. It was ballistic in the straights but not so good in the corners.
Chased for a few laps and then got passed and pulled away :)

Just in case your interested in a shot of the rear of mine going round Cadwell park (nowhere near as clean as yours, but is great fun) then please take a look the first link and if you want to look at some other shots of Z3's going round Cadwell Park there are also a number in the other two links, but there are a lot of pictures in those links. Mine is basically standard except I lowered it by about 70mm but still standard shock and bushes (except the trailing arm bushes that are eccentric polybushes. At Snetteron, before the polybushes. the Tyre Temps were 25 deg outside edge, 35 mid tyre and 42 inside edge. At Cadwell after the polybush mod the range accross the tyre was within thre to 5 degree's depending on how quick I got to the measuring kit after a hot lap. My thanks go to the BMW CC GB and Michelin for arranging the Michelin team to be at the BMWCC GB track days this year it was brilliant.
