I have to say I’m confused what the real issue is.

If you’re saying an M43 engine from an E46 has been installed in your Z3 then in theory there should be no issue. Although to be certain I’d have probably kept the Z3 inlet system rather than take the E46 setup.

If you’re then saying the E46 engine mounting brackets were installed with the engine that’s different. They are definitely a different part number and you would probably expect them to be at least slightly different for an E46. But like Lee I can’t really see how it all fitted in. 1 or 2 mm differences will stuff up getting it to bolt up.

The ECU I would probably park up for now. If it matches the VIN of the car that’s probably the best situation. I wouldn’t want the ECU from an E46 in there as my start point.

If you are lacking power or have any fault then get the codes read and go from there.

But I agree I would want to resolve the engine mount issue. Maybe they are physically the same mount but with different part numbers due to a minor change.

First of all no error codes
As I said the amounting brackets where from an e46 as shown in diagram but should have been wearing the mounting struts from the e36

You need to find out if they are really different or not.

Either that or just get hold of a Z3 pair and replace them which in theory you’ll need to do anyway.

You’ll need to suspend the engine from a beam while you do it. They are about £40.

My suspicion is, as it went in at all they must be the same or very close.

I already changed the Mounts and the engine is fitting perfectly even as I said in an earlier post I also changed the silent blocks and the transmissions silent blocks that were in horrible condition as the were slanted in stead of straight

I think I’d probably find someone with the same engine as you, presumably an M43 and compare the 2 side by side.

Measure/compare the engine brackets. Check the overall positioning etc.

What I cant understand is why anyone in there right mind would put a part designed for a different car????

If it was functionally different and shifted the position of the engine me neither. But I can’t figure out how it all went in anyway.

Do you still have an issue here? I get the feeling we’re trying to fix something that isn’t actually broken (any more).

No need to measure and compare. When the car is raised and after removing the mount and identifying it by part number it is obvious if the part fits the car.
Also visible strains on transmission, silent blocks is also apparent.
After correcting the problem even my transmission is running smother

I fixed this problem but as I stated at the begging of the post I also checked the ecu just in case they had swapped it with something inadequate for the car. As I asked yesterday my problem is that the car lacks power??
It currently has a top speed of 170km
