Re-proofed the hood, which is in outstanding condition, then unclogged the fuel filler cup drain hole, letting out about 500ml of water that was sitting in there!

Also replaced the key rubber on the most used key, then noticed the passenger side seat belt guide is cracked. Will glue it to begin with, then later I'll attempt the replacement.

If you want a better temporary fix fir the seat belt guide, get some thick electrical shrink wrap tubing. You can manoeuvre it over both ends then shrink it to hold both ends in place.

Should hold longer than glue will!

Beautiful! That interior looks really good, especially the console. I picked up my 97 2.8 just two weeks ago - just beginning to enjoy it now that it has new tyres and a current safety inspection. To pass, I had to replace one light bulb! So far, it's looking like my tinkering project will actually be an improvement project, not a fix it project.

What is Autoglym Fabric hood treatment? Maybe I need to do that.

Oh my God! Someone on my side of the Pond? Welcome to the group from Frankie in New Jersey.

Also, just a word of advice. Don't talk sports to the guys on the other side of the pond. I sent over a volley last month and the return volley was so fierce it tripped alarms at NORAD. I just got out from hiding under the bed yesterday. And please don't ask why there is a giraffe for my picture.. Frankie

The AluminIUm needs cleaning, as the swirls put into it for the turned effects are a little dirty, and the "Hockey Stick" that runs down the left side of the console is scuffed through the vinyl at the handbrake end, but I have a replacement part in good condition. Just need to pull out the console to unscrew it.

AutoGlym Fabric hood treatment is this:

Should be freely available anywhere in the US, I got mine on eBay, probably a good bet for you, too.

And don't I love all of you for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't imagine how far my eyes popped out of my head when I saw that girl holding a football. I felt like a kid that was just handed a Christmas present. I kept thinking of how I should use it to poke a little fun at all the boys over there. Before I posted it, I showed it to my wife and she looked at me a little confused. As I pressed the 'post' button, I told her "watch what happens NOW!!!"

I was also interested. I clicked on the hyperlink and flags of different countries came up. The closest was Canada which I pressed. I then sent them my e-mail address. Perhaps they'll send me a US location.

You do not need to waterproof the hood. Waste of time and money IMHO. Just give it a good clean, as when the hood gets wet, the fibers tighten up to keep it water tight....

Well we may have to agree to disagree. I'd rather have a watertight top, and really, you should see this thing, I'm sure it's original, but if not fair enough, but the top deserves some care, and for the sake of less than £20 and ten minutes elbow work it was well worth it.

It's also nice to see water bead up on it, rather than soaking in.
