It is always difficult interpreting someone else's opinion in these circumstances.
We've stayed in many hotels that bore no resemblance to their reviews - it is often interesting to re-read them after you've stayed.
Sadly the tendency of today's society seems to be complaint rather than compliment driven.
People are very quick to criticise but very slow to praise.
This is often reflected in negative feedback statistics.
There is perhaps no smoke without fire, but if it is as awful as some would have us believe, there are plenty if us to make a lot of noise about it.

As long as its clean (have a check on the rooms) then we are happy

Not sure how much travel lodges are these days, 50 quid? If so for an extra 20 a night we get somewhere that's probably a bit better to park + washing facilities for those that want it and a bar that's open to a more reasonable time

Trip adviser has had some bad reviews over the years and we tend to take the site advice with a pinch of salt as it can be way off the mark.

Hopefully it all looks ok when you get to check it out

Titan and Board, Quite agree, we stayed in a gorgeous place in india and a few tripadvisor reviews could have put me off if i had seen them before we went but the place was brill, also the same happend when we went to Diani in Kenya for our honeymoon 3 years ago, again a few negative views but was a super place and hotel.

Neither have we Ray and I'm sure there are others
IIRC we booked before all these other Zedders jumped on the band wagon with their cheap rates 8-|
I'm sure it will be OK (it had better be ) after all it's not as though we intend spending a long time there
Friday night it will be arrive, wash car, nosh and bed
Saturday we will be at the circuit so there's only going to be a few hours on Saturday night - and there's at least 2 weddings to gatecrash

Worst case on the food front we all go to the closest maccy dees and the local boy racers won't know what to think

I think the three of us meeting up there would be good if you let me know the timings that suit. I do not know what the area is you are coming from. PM details I think is best. I am doing the Elan Valley run and then off to the US on the 16th Feb.

I quite agree also about reviews, as I said on the original thread, pinch of salt always recommended and there are always some who just like to have a moan and not pay compliments/give praise when due.

Like I've said I've organised many big functions in the past and have spoken to hoteliers who just packed their hotels to the rafters and didn't really care about consequences.

I was going to say I'll not bother with the reccie as everyone seems happy to just go but I have a pm from Duncan with some other info in so "watch this space" is probably the best thing to say...

Guys and Gals

Due to the fact that we have had minimal reposes to these threads since January/February and the fact that a number of people are going to enjoy the trackside entertainment including planning to take BBQ materials to which we have had Tacit agreement to. I am closing these threads and will not be arranging either a hogg roast not a BBQ at the Hotel. Bar meals and the restaurant will be available.
