OK clearly there is a back story here.... lemme in on it!!!
Beige has the perception of being the colour favoured by older gentlemen in the UK. Not sure about other countries perceptions though!

Good evening Rohan, let me explain the furore regarding Beige. My Z3, named Z3lda, has an interior very much like yours, classic beige leather upholstery and wood capping. I ventured to the forum that this instilled a sense of relaxed calm and well being to the driver, resulting in a smoother more mature style of driving. Also that it was a classic interior found in many Jaguars and other quality Marques.

This comment was pounced upon by other forum members espousing garish reds, greens, blues and carbon fibre (whatever that is) bling for interior finishes. Also accusing me of being a BOF, and suggesting I dressed in similar colours.

Rohan, don't be perturbed by the opinions of others in this matter, you and I know we have chosen our classic Z3's guided by good taste and a fine eye for things automotive

Yours,

Bonzo.

Well Z3lda is indeed beautiful and I'm glad she's attired similarly to.... (ok I still have to think up a name)....

Meanwhile, its funny but my Jag too is with a beige leather interior with a wood trim.... ... Ummmm... I'm starting to realize something about myself....

Hi Rohan
Welcome from me in Walton on Thames, Surrey.
Changing the seat bushes is fairly straight forward and the guides on this site take you every step of the way.
For me the biggest problem was getting the securing bolts that hold the tracks to the floor pan, undone. They would not budge and there is very little space to work with from a leverage point of view. Best to get your local garage to free them off with a pneumatic tool and then to retighten them to get you home. Otherwise no real issues and the difference is very noticeable, well worth the effort.
Good luck with that and a warm welcome to the forum.

Great... thanks for your response. and I'll be getting onto the page and pushing in the order real soon. In the meantime, I was wondering if I could ask a really great favour.... I have a fairly sizable list of things to do to the car including the rear window, seat bushings, and a few other odds and ends... and was wondering (if it isn't to onerous) if I could have all the parts shipped to one place and have the whole bulk of it shipped to the UAE in one go (might save a few $$$ in shipping costs).... and please do feel free to say no if this is inconvenient :)
I can ship wherever you wish but to be honest my shipping charges for international are quite small as the bushes are light in weight and volume so may not make much difference to you anyway other than keeping everything together. Just let me know on the payment the shipping address and I will send it there.

Hey Aceman,

Sorry for the long hiatus, but my zee suffered an unfortunate illness. While autocrossing, I suddenly lost all throttle response and it seems that the throttle cable and assembly was somewhere out on the track and no where in sight to where I had coasted off to.

At any rate, the car is now almost ready since the mechanics couldn't find replacement parts and had to finagle "something" (shuddering) - so i'll be placing the orders for those bushes. Do you think I could have them before Monday/Tuesday of the coming week?

I'm grinning again!!!

So my little z came back with the gas pedal all fixed, and the car freshly serviced and I'm once again back to top down cruising driving a stick shift and loving life....

Every time I hit a stumbling block with the z, I wonder about if its worth it and should I sell.... and then when I'm back at the wheel, I remember, once again, what I love about this car and curse myself for thinking about bailing on her...

I'm happy again so thought I'd share some joy!!!

Some good techno if required and more than enough banter to last you a lifetime! Enjoy your Zed there great!! :nurse: That last smiley shouldn't be there! I hit it by mistake and dont know how to delete it lol! Try again......... That's better!!

Hehe... Hi Dave,

Thanks for that... March is a loooong way away.... so you should definitely try and squeeze in a trip sooner (although with the onset of summer coming up, I can't imagine it would be the best of times to visit here until the end of October)... but none the less... do pencil in some time to catch up for a chat on z's over some beers and dinner...

and yep... i'm sticking to the beige and wood theme thus far .... got that look in my Jag and have it carried over into the zed.... and it looks like its going to stay there for some time to come :)

Do keep me posted on your visit!!!! Would love to show you around Dubai although I can't imagine beating what your friends @ Emirates will be able to show you :)

Yeah that be cool RT. If your still on here and near to where I'll be staying (you'll probably know where they'll be put) will meet up for sure. Be pretty cool to meet a Zedder in Dubai! That's if you don't sell it first! We are coming over every March for a week to see them. We only have to pay a tiny % of the flights so makes it an affordable trip for us.It is a while off yet but we've got a road trip to France in July so that'll break it up. :)

Yeah... those perks for Emirates employees are rather brilliant... and a road trip to France sounds brilliant... I would actually love to take the zed on a long road trip but don't see that happening anytime soon :(

No kidding! I wouldn't mind a slice of what he's getting, but fair play to him, he's studied hard to they both deserve it. There a cracking couple and they'll be missed but who wouldn't grab that opportunity!
Really looking forward to France. We go most years but this will be the first time in the Zed. :). Where would a road trip take you? Would you stay in Dubai or go further afield?

well we've already done road trips to Abu Dhabi (the capital of UAE), and Ras Al Khaimah (RAK - another Emirate (city) of the UAE). There's a fantastic little air strip up in RAK with ultra-lights planes and gyrocopters that you can get certified on quite cheaply and fly off into the desert, land there and fly back....

Besides, the whole of the GCC countries are all road connected and cross-border traffic and border control isn't too bad so Oman seems rather tempting too....

Oman. Intresting choice. I really feel these little cars are superb for showing us the world. There so much fun and running around other countries with the top down is the icing on the cake! :)
