I've REALLY missed all of you guys. I should start to think of a return trip. FrankieGood we have missed you
I will get the spare bed made up!I've REALLY missed all of you guys. I should start to think of a return trip. Frankie
First thing I would check Frankie is to see if there is any signs of a leak at the slave cylinder, if you can get to it, squeeze the rubber dust seal on the end of the slave cylinder and see if any fluid comes out of it. Also check if there is any signs of fluid inside the drivers footwell or even rung down the clutch pedal itself. It's possible that the clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel if the car hasn't been driven for some time. Does the clutch pedal press easily down to the floor?@t-tony
I meant to ask you something. I never did anything with the clutch on the 1.9. I had the car parked on the side of the house. I wanted it in the driveway while I was on vacation. I started up the car in neutral and let it run until the rpm was a normal warmed up range. I then shut the car off and put it into 1st gear, started it up and drove it into the driveway and shut it down immediately, or I'd hit the ////M. The clutch pedal didn't seem to be pressing against the pressure plate. I feel that it's a problem with the (I'm assuming it's a) master/slave cylinder. Are these easy to repair/change? I haven't looked at the Bently Manual yet for doing this. I did read that it uses the same fluid from the brake master cylinder which is full. Frankie
Law of the sod Tony! Not done much all year thenThat's a shame Brian, hope to bump into you else where. Hope the sun shines on Southwell, it's where I did my apprenticeship college time.

Yes, I remember.............The bed that I couldn't figure out how the hell you got such a heavy '2000 pound' bed up to the second floor until I gave it some deeper thought..............(stupid Yanks)I will get the spare bed made up!
The pedal moves too easily. It went bad as I was driving it. It felt sort of week as if it was not delivering any power to the clutch plate and then within a few seconds, the pedal became very weak and I could not even disengage the gear I was in and had to turn off the ignition to stop the car.First thing I would check Frankie is to see if there is any signs of a leak at the slave cylinder, if you can get to it, squeeze the rubber dust seal on the end of the slave cylinder and see if any fluid comes out of it. Are they difficult to change? Expensive? I'll look for your reply in about an hour as I must walk before it gets dark. Later.. FrankieSounds as though one of the cylinders has failed then Frankie, just a matter of seeing which one.
Tony.

Make it a weekend, Jack Ratt, we usually get an Indian summer (Not an opener for several more discrimination jokes! Lol)Might be tempted to have a run up if the weather hold out.
@FRANKIE , not found any repair times up to now, still looking. I found a "How to" for clutch master cyl. on Bimmerfest, it has good pictures and the author states it wasn't much of a job.TBH I've never done either but I can find the "Book" times to change either tomorrow which will give us an idea of what sort of jobs they are.
